A comment on the question "Partitioning a wiki for student groups to work but only see their own group's work?" in PBwiki:
Hi Mr Gibbs :)
If you put the pages into a folder, the pages will inherit the security levels of the folder - so all you need to do is give the students folder-level access, and they'll only have access to the pages in that folder.
You can set folder-level access by clicking the folder, and then clicking the "Security" tab. – Rachel Pennig, on September 02, 2008 15:32

One small clarifying question, please. I watched the video of how to make page-specific accounts for my students. However. What if I have 25 pages in English 101 and 20 pages in Algebra and 35 pages in Journalism. Can I give students in those separate classes FOLDER LEVEL ACCESS so they can access all the pages in that root folder, or must I give individual access to each individual page. That would require me to set up 80 page-specific permissions. – mrgibbs, on September 02, 2008 15:29

I asked during the PB Wiki Office Hours today. They said that the request is there, but they are not currently working on it. Chris suggested using tags instead. I requested a list of tags or a tag cloud for the sidebar, which he said could be a possibility. – Jim, on August 27, 2008 18:31

I'm pretty sure that you need a premium wiki for the page and folder level access controls (see Rachel's post on the page level thread given above). I guess that you could set up each student with their own wiki to gain similar functionality, but I suspect it would be more than 3 Starbucks trips/month worth of hassle.

Ethan, thank you for your previous help. Now I have a new problem. When I try to change the folder security it tells me \"Upgrade your wiki to take advantage of this feature.\"
I thought that when I signed up as an educator I would receive this privilege. Otherwise it says the most basic (silver) is $9.95/month. Is there a way I can use this feature without paying?
Thanks for your help!
