Hi Adam,
Yes, I am somehow disappointed by the fact that as per your interpretation, Linkedin makes harder marketing of a group, however these are the rules. In this thread I'm trying to find the truth, the final official response. If I wanted to hide and make a software, I wouldn't ask these questions here to reveal my plans.
I understand your comment "I am not a legal expert, so please don't take my comments here as any form of official legal opinion." - that's why I asked to get a 'second opinion' from your legal department. Could they contact me through my email address listed in my linkedin profile?
Thanks,
Eugene

Hi Adam,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I have 2 questions though...
1) Why the manual posting of group's discussions on Twitter is legit when you just said "it's not legit... to scrape the LinkedIn site for content that you didn't generate, and then republish it on Twitter"
2) what is the difference between the manual scrapping of the content that I have not generated and the automated one?
I'm just trying to understand the logic behind the rules... because these rules sound like they may be manipulated. Could you please discuss that with your colleagues from the legal department?
Thanks,
Eugene
Eugene Pik asked a question in LinkedIn on August 05, 2009 05:10:
Getting data from the Linkedin web siteMy question is about getting data from linkedin and posting it on Twitter. To be more specific, I'd like to read Discussions from my group "Networking in GTA (Greater Toronto Area)" and post them into a Twitter account, so Twitter subscribers could get the updates. Unfortunately that functionality is not offered by Linkedin.
I have applied for the Linkedin API but as per messages in different places, these requests are not often responded.
There are few PHP classes on the Web that could be used to login into Linkedin, save the current state and get other information that a "live" user can see.
I'm not sure if that way is legit or no... As well I'm not sure how often Linkedin changes their code - these changes may break the authentication or data import.
Looking for your comments.
Thanks,
Eugene
