Evan Prodromou replied on October 28, 2009 20:32 to the problem "Logging In From Client Fails." in StatusNet Inc.:
Zach, it's because GoDaddy runs its PHP through CGI, and basic authentication isn't working well with it.
This is a known bug in StatusNet. http://status.net/trac/ticket/1832 I believe there's a fix here: http://gitorious.org/statusnet/mainli...
I'm pretty sure it's in 0.8.2 release, coming in the next day or so.
Evan Prodromou replied on October 28, 2009 20:26 to the question "How to show subscriptions/subscribers in sidebar" in StatusNet Inc.:
First, you can always get the Identica look-and-feel by enabling the identica theme. See the README for how to change themes.
Second, I believe that in all the themes we ship, you should see the subscriptions and subscribers in the sidebar on a user's profile page and on their notice inbox. If those aren't showing up, you may be seeing some kind of browser bug. Let us know -- a screenshot would be helpful.
Third, if you want to add some custom data to the sidebar, you'd probably do best to add a plugin that hooks the StartShowSections or EndShowSections events (depending on whether you want it to be at the top or the bottom).
Finally, you'd have to have a pretty small site for it to make sense to list all users in the sidebar. Are you sure that's what you want to do?

We've had lots of positive feedback on this. Let us know if there's anything you need to improve support for StatusNet. – Evan Prodromou, on October 18, 2009 18:42
atebits' reply to "What about adding identica support ?" was just promoted to the most useful! Evan Prodromou and 3 other people think it's one of the best replies.

I think it's been said before, but I'll say it again: we really love Tweetie, we're excited by Tweetie's active and passionate user community, and we'd love to see the client support Identi.ca and other Laconica sites.
Many clients have been able to get working versions of their software with only a few lines of code change. We have a very compatible API that makes supporting both systems easy.
Let's make this happen!
Evan Prodromou replied on July 07, 2009 15:34 to the question "How does a group that lost its admin get one again?" in StatusNet Inc.:
A site administrator has to do it.
Send a request to admin@identi.ca (contact info page linked at the bottom of every page) with the relevant group info and we'll get you set up.
A comment on the problem "Can you keep feeds from identi.ca from being fed back to identi.ca?" in pingvine:
OK, that's probably a good start. Sorry for the trouble -- this seems like a PEBKAC problem more than anything else.
I was mostly concerned that someone had nabbed these users' passwords and was posting as pingvine. But it seemed unlikely that they'd use input from RSS feeds. – Evan Prodromou, on May 28, 2009 18:54

Yikes!
Lollie went through and deleted the pingvine notices:

We have Apache logs showing posts from the same IP address. We can get the posts from backup if we need to. – Evan Prodromou, on May 28, 2009 18:50

So, the user who is having this problem says that they don't use Pingvine!
http://identi.ca/notice/4637847
And we now have another user with the same problem:
http://identi.ca/notice/4651889
Any idea what's going on here?
We're getting all these posts from 76.249.240.89 -- is that one of your IP addresses?
Evan Prodromou shared an idea in pingvine on May 27, 2009 18:24:
Can we uniquely identify posted items? We're considering adding an API argument for a unique identifier (probably a URI) for a notice. This would be useful for reposting services like pingvine; you could provide the unique ID from the RSS/Atom feed and we could tell you if we've seen it before.
We can also provide the link in our output.
Would you support it if we added this feature?

Evan Prodromou reported a problem in twitterfeed on May 27, 2009 16:25:
Can we prevent feedback loops? At identi.ca, we have problems with some users mistakenly connecting their friends timeline feed to services like twitterfeed. That is, they take a feed like https://identi.ca/api/statuses/friend... and use it to post to testuser94118's account! (OK, I set this one up to test, but you get the idea).
Can you do a check that the feed domain is not the same as the domain that's is going to receive the status updates? It'd really help us out.
Evan Prodromou reported a problem in pingvine on May 27, 2009 16:16:
Can you keep feeds from identi.ca from being fed back to identi.ca?Some of our users have made the mistake of feeding their own message inbox feed into pingvine, causing loops and duplicate messages. See http://identi.ca/lollie for an example.
It would be great if you could check the domain for an input feed and if it's identi.ca, refuse to push notices from that feed back to us.
I'm not sure there's a way for us to do it on our side. We already do duplicate prevention (preventing dupe notices from the same author over a particular period), but if a user is feeding their input feed to their output feed, the notices won't be from the same author, so our dupe protection misses it.

Evan Prodromou replied on May 22, 2009 15:06 to the question "Cannot load required extension "xmlwriter"" in StatusNet Inc.:
You need to have the XMLWriter PHP extension installed.
http://www.php.net/xmlwriter
It may be a good idea to read the README to make sure you have all the other required extensions installed.
