Evan Hamilton replied on December 10, 2009 00:15 to the problem "Why won't Twitter update?" in Flock:
Hey folks,
There are indeed currently some issues with Twitter in Flock, including:
- DMs, @Mentions and Following sections empty
- DMs, @Mentions and Following sections not updating
- Some posts missing from the People Sidebar
Our developers are currently looking into this, but the short answer is that there are some changes in the Twitter API that seem to be causing these issues. I'll post an update here as soon as I have an ETA on a fix.
Thanks so much for your patience,

Evan Hamilton replied on December 07, 2009 23:43 to the problem "Flock 2.5 startup delayed by "Migration Manager" functions" in Flock:
Hey Howard,
Thanks for the note. We all agree that wiping your profile is not an ideal fix (or even a "fix" per se), and if possible we would all love to find a fix for the issue you experienced.
However, that is very difficult...primarily because you're the only known report of this issue, and we cannot reproduce it. Much like when you take your car into the shop, if the issue you were experiencing can't be reproduced by the mechanics they're at a bit of a loss as to how to fix the issue. Since we can't reproduce the issue here and see exactly what is happening, we can't fix it.
And in fact, this may not be a bug so much as an issue specific to your installation - often there can be specific conflicts on an Operating System or corruption in your profile that crops up as a totally unique bug.
So - if we can reproduce this issue and/or hear of it from a bunch of other people, we will absolutely work to solve the issue. Unfortunately there's not much we can do until then. :\
Thanks for your patience, and I hope the rest of your browsing with Flock is problem-free!

Evan Hamilton replied on December 07, 2009 23:34 to the idea "Multi-touch gestures are not suppored, why?" in Flock:
Hey Nick,
Thanks for the note! The reason we don't currently support multi-touch functions is because these only started being supported in Firefox 3.5. We're still based off of Firefox 3.0, hence the lack of multi-touch. As soon as we move to Firefox 3.5, we should have multi-touch!

Hey Proggie,
That's my understanding as well, though I have seen it behave differently. Have you tried clicking the "Remember Me" checkbox on Facebook when logging in? Not positive that'd do it, but worth a try. – Evan Hamilton, on December 01, 2009 19:52

That's quite odd, Proggie. Can you post a new thread with more details about your issues? We'll try to help you out.

Just to provide an update for all, in case you missed my responses throughout the thread:
Yes, the Flickr issues are not fixed. The simple answer is that the Flock team is hard at work on Flock 3 and it's very hard to get time from them to work on Flock 2.x issues. I have and continue to stress to our team that these fixes are much-requested, but it's a hard decision to make - we have a deadline, and lots to do.
You continuing to post here is absolutely helpful to me - I can request these fixes all I want, but it's your voice that will make a difference. As long as we keep the requests civil, I will continue to send each and every one to our decision-makers and urge them to make time to fix this issue.
This is the longest we've gone without fixing a major issue, and I'm as frustrated as you are. Please continue to voice this frustration in a constructive, civil way and we will get these bugs fixed.
Thanks folks,

A comment on the update "Facebook Chat fixed, Flickr broken" in Flock:
We have some of the options you mentioned available to us - we can combine threads, and I am trying to keep them all together. Certainly not an easy thing to do.
Purging threads is something I am reluctant to do...while I agree that it is confusing when people reply to a thread about a long-fixed bug, I think it's detrimental to not have past info for people to look at. Additionally, someone may return to a post they published to check on the status and find it deleted. It's a bit of a quandary, but somewhat solved by the "archive" option, which should theoretically hide a thread unless you already have the URL.
If you have any specific feedback for GetSatisfaction, you can give it to them on their own tool at www.getsatisfaction.com/getsatisfaction - I try to do this as much as possible, and they are relatively responsive.

Hey Jan,
Thanks for the note. I'm frustrated too - this is the longest we've gone without fixing an issue this big. I use Flickr plenty, and I feel your pain every time I have to log in again.
As I mentioned to Joe, we're doing our best to condense all the threads to one place - if you see any floating in the ether by themselves, please let us know.
I appreciate you posting - I am fighting to have your bugs addressed, but it's only through your feedback that I can prove to the decision-makers here that this is important.
Thanks for hanging in there,

A comment on the update "Facebook Chat fixed, Flickr broken" in Flock:
Hey Joe,
Thanks for the note. At the time that I posted the quote you included, the "more functional fixes" referred to things that would literally keep the browser from working for some people - which I think we can all agree was more important than Flickr fixes.
The situation now is obviously different, and I would agree 100% that Flickr fixes are the #1 priority in terms of the current build after security updates. No argument there, and I continue to push for these bugs to get fixed...unfortunately, there is a lot of competition here between the new version of Flock and fixes for the old version.
As for GetSatisfaction, I don't disagree - overall I like the system but there are certainly flaws. We're doing our best to condense issues into single threads...please let us know if you see any that need to be condensed.
Thanks for speaking up in a polite way - I am as frustrated as you are now, but the best thing we can do is continue to communicate and work together!

Hey laurentcoupau,
Thanks for the feedback! We're definitely always working to add more services to Flock...unfortunately, there is no easy way to do this. Each service handles code differently, so we need to do specific work to integrate it.
If there are specific services you're interested in seeing in Flock, do a search here on our GetSatisfaction page: there are many threads requesting specific services, and you can add your vote by clicking "I like this idea!" on those pages. If a service gets enough votes, we'll look into integrating it.

Hey Antsbugg,
I answered this in your other thread, but just in case you miss it:
The reason we don't update at the same time is because we're a different company than Mozilla...so we can't start putting the update code into Flock until they officially release it. Once they do, we try to integrate and push out the update as soon as possible - usually within two weeks.
Hope that answers your question!
