Evan Hamilton replied on September 25, 2009 17:32 to the problem "Flock is very slow on start up -any way to improve this?" in Flock:
Hey Ranu,
How many favorites approximately do you have? This *could* be the problem, and there is a way to test, but everyone has different definitions of a "lot". :)
Also, how long does Flock take to start? 15 seconds? 45 seconds? 5 minutes?
Thanks,

Hey Bluefoggyday,
I believe one of the posters re-installed and all was well, so it was marked as Solved. Looks like some folks are still having issues.
Can you clarify what you mean by "won't remember that I'm logged into Flickr"? You mean you'll get actively logged out, or when you restart the browser you'll no longer be logged in?

Hey Christina,
I'm really glad to hear that you found a fix for the problem! However, I just wanted to clarify: Flock and Firefox do not interact in any way. Any changes made to Firefox will not do anything to Flock, and vice versa. I'm not quite sure why this issue occurred with your installation of Flock, but it's very unlikely that Firefox caused it.
Thanks so much for sharing your about:config fix though, that's super helpful for others who may have this issue!

Evan Hamilton replied on September 24, 2009 17:22 to the question "Twitter Feeds not pulling automatically" in Flock:
Hey Amanda,
Every so often the People Sidebar can get stuck...the easy fix is to close and reopen it. If that's not working for you, try this:
1. Log out of Twitter
2. Open the Accounts&Services Sidebar
3. "Forget" your Twitter account
4. Go to Tools>Options (Windows), Flock>Preferences (Mac) or File>Preferences (Linux)
5. Go to the Privacy tab
6. Click "Show Cookies"
7. Delete the twitter.com cookies
8. Restart Flock
Let me know if that gets things rolling again!

Evan Hamilton replied on September 22, 2009 21:13 to the problem "sidebars no longer working" in Flock:
Hey therealtaryn,
My guess is that there is some corruption in your profile. Try the following steps to solve:
1. Back up your profile (http://flock.com/faq/show/64#q_61799)
2. Follow the "Reset your Odometer" steps at http://www.flock.com/tune-up
3. Also delete the "flock-data.sqlite" file in the same location
4. Restart your computer
Let me know if that works...if not, there's some other stuff we can try.

Hey therealtaryn,
So sorry to hear about the issue, that certainly shouldn't happen! If you could answer the following questions it will help me assist you better:
1. What version of Flock are you using?
2. Did you recently install a Flock update?
3. Do you have any extensions installed?
4. Around how long have you been using Flock?
Thanks,

Evan Hamilton replied on September 22, 2009 18:32 to the question "html 5" in Flock:
Hey GrokSurf,
We're certainly excited about the advances in HTML 5 and are looking forward to seeing it come unto it's own!
As we're built off of the same technology as Firefox, we do not make changes to the rendering engine in order to support new technologies. So we'll support HTML 5 around the same time Firefox does. I'm aware that Firefox 3.5 does support some HTML 5 tags and as soon as Flock is powered by Firefox 3.5, we'll have that same functionality.
Hope that answers your question!

Hey Ranu,
Flock certainly shouldn't be very slow on startup, and there are probably some things we can do to help. A couple questions for you first:
1. What version of Flock are you using?
2. What Operating System are you using?
3. Do you have any extensions installed?
4. How long have you had Flock installed?
Thanks, those'll help me help you! :)

@Ristof: I'm not quite following what you're frustrated with, can you provide more information? What news feed is doing what?
@Aristo: Unfortunately we don't currently support Windows Live. They don't make the necessary code available for us to integrate them in our product...hopefully they will someday!

Hey Chris,
Can you help me understand your frustration a bit better? Are you just irritated by the sidebar popping open? Do you feel your data is not safe if it's flowing through our sidebar? Or do you share the computer with multiple people and are worried about them accessing your account?
Let me know, that'll help me determine how to help you out!

Evan Hamilton replied on September 18, 2009 19:12 to the question "can i use flock source code to make my own browser" in Flock:
Hey chiafan,
Flock is open source under the General Public License (GPL), so you can download and modify our source code. The gist of the GPL is that you can make any changes but have to provide any changes back to us. Please read the GPL (in the license blocks in the source code) before making any changes, so you know what your responsibilities are.
We don't currently have source code available for the very latest release, but this is relatively recent: http://ftp.osuosl.org/pub/flock/relea...

A comment on the idea "Yoono support" in Flock:
Hey RiRe,
The Firefox version of the Yoono extension should theoretically work fine in Flock. You can find it on Yoono's site or on addons.mozilla.org.

Evan Hamilton replied on September 16, 2009 19:25 to the problem "Flock 1.x oblivious to 2.x?" in Flock:
Hey Jeff,
You are correct - we don't have auto-updates from 1.x to 2.x turned on, because we encountered some issues with the auto-update process. Until we get these cleared up, we will have to keep the auto-updates off.
That said, there are no reported issues with manually upgrading - which you can do by downloading and running the installer from www.flock.com. Although there ar eno issues reported, it's always worth backing up your profile when performing a large upgrade. Instructions for backing up your profile are available at: http://flock.com/faq/show/64#q_61799
Sorry about the confusion! Please let me know if I can do anything else to help.
