Oke just one little suggestion: As you know wordpress released an app as well. Nice and all, but i want to stick to LifeCast. Please take a look at some reviews of the app that are on the web. There have been some issues (for example editing posts after publishing) and lack of functionality. If you can work out a more solid/enjoyable user experience that the half-baked (my personal opinion) Wordpress app than this would be good for the LifeCast community.
Thanks for your time :)

To Kichigai,
Yes the Web apps are nice, but I for one, and others, would like to have a Desktop app. This is promised by the developers and so for is nowhere in sight. An update on how its going would be nice. About the Dashboard widget. First ''Web Clipping'' is only available when you have Mac OSX Leopard. Many are not yet upgraded (including myself). And just like with the Webb apps Vs. the Desktop App: its nicer to have a native (official) app running on your pc/mac that is designed from the ground up to provide quick updates from and to your Brightkite account.
I wish you the best!

Apple IS going to provide a push notification service, to be released in September. Link: http://www.engadget.com/2008/06/09/ip...
Evert asked a question in Brightkite on July 27, 2008 08:18:
Release dates / Progress on the following...After reading several posts the Brightkite-dev team is woking on several projects. I would love to know how things are going.
1.The desktop application for Windows and Mac computers > According to previous statements by Brady this was supposed to be ready last month. So how is it going?
2.The Facebook app. Brightkite promised Facebook integration > How far are you guys with developing this?
3.Brightkite is considering making a Dashboard (Mac OSX) widget (ref: we're considering making our own widget, if we have the time. We're a small company, so sometimes that can be a challenge.). Is this still in the pipeline?
4.And yes the iPhone app. Everyone knows its coming, but still the company knows how far the project is and must be able to give a somewhat detailed ETA on it.
4.1 Is the iPhone Brightkite app going to use the push notification service provided by Apple, to be released in september?
A bit more personal...
4.2 Is there any word on Periodic Automatic Checkins either by Brightkite or other third-party dev team with the Brightkite API?
Thank you all for doing a great job guys, keep the good work going!
Evert asked a question in Brightkite on July 11, 2008 16:24:
Anyone working on auto (periodic) check-ins using the API? (iPhone)I hope people are working on this since i fear we're not getting this functionality from Brightkite :(

I couldn't agree more. I think that for some people, like myself, Life-stream blogging should be very quick, un-intrusive to the moment, much like an SMS/MMS. You click the App, do your tekst (with or without photo/video), send and done.
Shozu for me is only usable when I am in line waiting, bored, with lots of time on my hands. But when I am in a real event, participating, enjoying the moment, I dont want to stare for more than 1 min at my phone. Sharing is fine, lots of computing/distraction to do so is not. LifeCast, from what i've seen so far, and as Damien said before, is transparent on this matter.
Evert replied on July 11, 2008 12:41 to the question "Wordpress Support? (please say yes!)" in Sleepydog:
Oke just some more comments ( i just really want to help you guys with constructive feedback to make the service amazing). In my mind one of your best selling points is that you have a focused software app.
Shozu is a competitor. They upload all sorts of media to blogs, social/community sites, photo and video sharing sites, Twitter, etc etc. So, yes they support lots and lots of blogs, that is very good, but they have a major flaw. They dont know what kind of user experience they want to give to there users. LifeCast does. After-all you have to be focused on a Phone based platform, it's not a desktop app with dozens of menu's and options.
Also, Shozu does nothing with geotagging, i believe. Something which differentiates you from them. It's important that LifeCast stays ahead on this.
Just some little observations. Thanks for the kind comments you gave me... I wish you guys the best...

Of course as a blogging service Typepad is beautiful, but one has to pay for it, atleast 49,95$ annually, that means it is not for the masses (referring to my statement before). Wordpress, Blogger and others are for free and yes a bit more limited but for most people more than adequate. LifeCast in this sense brings a Typepad-like-app for other blogs and combines them in different LifeCasts. Cooperation with TypePad is of course possible, but the major market, in my mind, is with free blogging services and perhaps (- I am not completely sure this is wise now that i'm thinking about it -) later in the future auto interaction with Twitter --> For example you can press an extra button/switch/tag and the Blog message you wrote will also appear in Twitter and or other similar services.
I think that LifeCast will come out strong and that the user community will largely spread the word. Still it might take some time before this service gets that major-all-of-a-sudden-boost, until then, and its only a question of when, i hope you guys keep on going.
Perhaps a couple of pointers.
(1). Make sure that people know in 30sec what this service can do for them. For example, make an intro movie right on the frontpage, no more than 1 or 2 min, giving practical, real life examples of the service.
Also show with icons the Blog services you support. Right now, i had to go to a special section to figure it out. When people recognise such an icon they get right away more interested..''I have a blog on this service, so what does this app do with this service'' People stick more.
(2). The How-To section looks a bit too traditional. Perhaps make it more interactive, more bigger, attractive screenshots. On the go blogging is about energy and emotion, convey that feeling in the How-To section.
(3) Geotagging is going to be ow so big. You have great support for this, but it's not right away clear what is does. Yes it displays your position, but how? On a map, GPS coordinates (I hope not), Is there integration with Google Maps. People dont know. And more important geotagging is new for many, tell them or show them with an example that this can make there blog much more interesting to friends and others. Take some credit, not for inventing the technology, but for implementing it in a nice way.
Just some ideas, i hope you'll like them.
Tell me your thoughts about them...

Oke i just made a Tumblr.com account and it works just like Wordpress.com, so i think we are on the same page (you dont know how excited I am!!). I am now going to check out the video's you posted (apparently only around 10 to 20 people have seen them, unbelievable). I hope you guys are not discouraged because of the little attention you've been getting so far.
I just want to say this company has really made an impression on me. The service you are going to provide is unique (the Typepad app is not for the masses). Twitter and Twittelator are not really blogging services, nor is Pownce, which in my mind is Twitter on steroids (a social file sharing service in my mind). Also Bright-kite is not a lifestream blogging service; it locates and lets you add notes and foto's but not in a blog atmosphere.
Your service combines the best of many things. It supports many services (at least it will in the future, the user can pick which fits best with him or her; blogger, tumblr, wordpress and other true blog atmospheres ), it has a clear philosophy (Lifestream blogging with text, foto's and geotagging). This also becomes clear when you look at the screenshots, you can see that it is focused on this kind of life blogging.
So keep up the good work, keep on going, dont get discouraged. You have something that fills-up a big void. If the apps does what is expected and more, and does it well. You will have a big succes story in your hands.
Ps: English is not my mother tongue, so forgive my spelling mistakes, but do take with you my message...

One more question, sorry for taking you time. I dont understand it, Typepad has been given a lot of coverage (they were even at the keynote 9th of june) but you guys are making an app that supports dozens of blogging apps, not just typepad blogs, so how can it be that this little gem is, as of yet, a bit unnoticed?
Evert replied on July 11, 2008 10:21 to the question "Wordpress Support? (please say yes!)" in Sleepydog:
Oke I am about to jump in the air of happiness, just one little question left. I was talking about the Wordpress.com hosted websites, like example.wordpress.com sites, not the Wordpress.org blogging technology/software. I have a blog on Wordpress.com (which is a bit like blogger) and i've been wanting for so long an application that lets me handle lifestream blogging for my wordpress.com blog. I am a beginner with all of this so i'm sorry if i am expressing myself badly, i hope you can help me out.
