First of all I looked at my generated pages, and figured that something was missing that was causing an abort of the page generation. I hinted that I was missing some function.
So then I looked at the DandyID php pages and looked at the function calls in there. I was intrigued by the calls to curl so checked if I had php-curl installed. Bingo! It wasn't! I installed it and it worked!
I installed it using the Mandriva RPM manager. Which should also answer your third question! ;)

Here's a follow up.
I disabled the plugin and then resaved the widgets layout.
Then I re-enabled the plugin and added DandyID, and it appears correctly in the widgets layout configuration page;
However, it still breaks my widget bar in my pages :
<di_v class="widget dandyIDServices_widget"><h3>Contacts</h3>
<!-- Page not cached by WP Super Cache. No closing HTML tag. Check your theme. -->
What are the requirements in the PHP modules for this plugin ?
(I renamed "div" to "di_v" on purpose in order for you to see what was going on)</di_v>

DandyID plugin on WordPress 2.7 doesn't work at allI can't get it to work.
Using WordPress 2.7, the plugin shows the following behaviour :
1. when clicking save in the options, I get a blank page. Is this normal? Is it not supposed to return to the options page?
2. In the themes/widgets page, I added the widget and it now appears as "%BEG_OF_TITLE%Contacts%END_OF_TITLE%". I can no longer remove it and it breaks my widget bar.
Any ideas? I tried version 1.0.8 and the latest version, but I get the same behaviour.
In advance, thanks. For the moment I have to disable the plugin in order to keep my site running.
