This has happened on both my home and work computers.
1. Dell P4, 2.8 GHz, 500 mb RAM, running Win XP Pro SP2
2. Mac Powerbook, 1 Gb RAM, I forget the CPU speed, running OS X Tiger
Both are running Firefox 3.0, using the Google Reader Greasemonkey script 2.0.
Right now on the Dell Firefox is using 97 mb of memory, and I've seen it get above 200! This was never the case before the new version of the script. Other coworkers that I've turned on to the extension report the same resource drain.
My Mac slows to a crawl. I pretty much can't use the script on it, which is ridiculous because it's a fantastic machine, albeit a few years old.
This is really bumming me out because I think this is the best thing ever to happen to Google Reader.

Is this still happening for you? Try upgrading to the latest version of the add-on; things should have improved by now.
We've seen some reports of CPU usage hovering around 10% — see this recent mailing list thread — and we're trying to reproduce this reliably so that we can work on a fix.

Hi, thats my machine:
Intel Celeron - CPU 2.53GHz - 512 MB RAM
Using Windows XP SP2 and Firefox 2.0.0.14
And I've tests with the extension and greasemonkey script.
I think these problem are caused by the "refreshing loop" in the google reader page. Perhaps the search for the ranks were held only once and had valid during the session (log in / out), I will increase my performance.

Extension eats 50% of CPUWhy does the Firefox extension eat up about 50% of my CPU usage?

My provider is Rogers (in Canada), and I can't do it. I know shortcodes aren't blocked on mine because I can send to Facebook (32665) and Google (46645) - and receive messages from them - just fine. It's only the twitter numbers that don't seem to be working for me. Not even the international number works.

AideRSS slowing down Firefox? Is it AideRSS that slowed down my Firefox?
I had a huge problem where when I opened Google Reader it started slowing my browsing down. To the extent that it froze my Firefox and I couldn't use it anymore. I uninstalled and now it's working fine.

No email autocomplete in Google ReaderWhy do I sometimes get an autocomplete when I email, and sometimes not? It's irritating that it happens haphazardly.

Ok, I got my problem fixed. I called my provider and asked them if short codes were blocked on my phone. The customer service rep stated that all short codes were being blocked. I asked her to remove the blocks. She did. I went back in to Twitter and registered my phone again.
And what do you know? I am sending messages from my mobile now...yippie!
