If you are not running version 2.1.0.72, could I have you manually install the latest version from: https://www.rescuetime.com/installers...
Let me know if you still have the problem with the latest version.

Joe replied on September 18, 2009 15:14 to the problem "RescueTime runs cpu at 100%" in RescueTime:
Dan, we're looking into this issue. We believe that it is an Intel vs PowerPC build issue.
In order to get back up and running, download the older version of RescueTime from here:
https://www.rescuetime.com/installers...
I'll let you know as soon as we have a fix!
Thank you

Joe replied on September 16, 2009 16:10 to the problem ""Welcome back" popup doesn't redraw when computer is unlocked." in RescueTime:
Breakfast, I've released an update (2.1.0.101) that you can install from here:
https://www.rescuetime.com/installers...
This update disables the transparency on the Offline Time dialog which I think was the primary cause for the redraw issue.
Let me know if you still have the issue after installing this update.
Thanks!
Joe replied on September 02, 2009 16:42 to the problem "Time off popup not working under WinXP?!" in RescueTime:
It should work under Windows XP, though we have had reports of the transparency that is used messing up on occasion. Can you send an email to team AT rescuetime.com with your email, so I can check to see if there is a problem with the configuration settings that is preventing it from displaying?
Thanks!
Joe replied on August 09, 2009 15:27 to the problem "Data Execution Prevention (DEP) Crash (Windows Vista)" in RescueTime:
I have a newer version of RescueTime (2.1 series) available at:
https://www.rescuetime.com/installers...
It contains a number of fixes for crash issues being reported, but more importantly, it contains a stub for capturing data about these crashes (we are still trying to track down a couple).
First download and run the above update on your RescueTime. If you experience another crash, RescueTime will attempt to write a debug "mini-dump" file that will give us precise information on where the crash occurred in the code. Right now we need as many people as possible who are experiencing the crashes to email us those mini-dumps.
The steps are as follows:
- After RescueTime crashes, it should write a file into the users TEMP directory
- In Windows XP this is located at: C:\Documents & Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Temp
- In Windows Vista / 7 this is located at: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Temp
- Inside of the TEMP directory you should find one or more files named similar to "2ac2ea16-c62e-4b43-b047-5301136889fe.dmp". Everything before the .dmp will be random, but they should all be the same number of characters.
- Email any of those files you find to team AT rescuetime.com so we can review where the crashes occurred.
Fixing these crashes is my top priority!
Thank you

Joe replied on July 27, 2009 17:25 to the problem "No "immediate notifications" for goals?" in RescueTime:
The "notify me immediately" setting does not send an email, instead it should display a message directly on your screen.
For Windows this will appear as balloon text over the RescueTime icon in your system tray and it should look similar to:

For OS X this feature requires Growl and will appear up near near the clock:

Depending on your screen size (and number of screens) the alerts might go unnoticed. I'm not sure if this helps at all. Let me know if you still don't notice your alerts.
An easy way to test this is to set a couple of test goals for < .01 hours per day and exceed those goals to see if alerts show up.
Thanks!

Joe replied on July 27, 2009 15:55 to the problem "User Deactivated... Why?" in RescueTime:
We are getting ready to release an update to the Windows client that will make the messages a little more clearer. Versions < 2.0.0.652 combine a couple of warning messages into the not so clear "RescueTime de-activated for this user" message.
Right now, there are a couple of reasons you could be seeing this message. The most likely is that you have either paused RescueTime through the pause menu, or you have a schedule enabled. Sometimes when RescueTime has been idle after a pause message, this message will stick around until the next update completes, which is 30 minutes for the Solo-Free accounts.
Basically RescueTime only changes status messages during the update process, so it should clear on its own after 30 minutes.
If it does not clear up in 30 minutes, check your schedule settings and if they appear correct, let us know.
Thanks!
Joe replied on July 24, 2009 02:18 to the question "Is there a Portable / USB version of RescueTime?" in RescueTime:
By default, if RescueTime is unable to communicate with our web servers (for whatever reason), it will store the accumulated log information in a local file or multiple files (if it's over a period of multiple days or weeks). The next time RescueTime is able to talk to our web servers, it will send all the old log data.
Depending on how long you were disconnected, it might take a bit of time (10-30 minutes) to get everything caught up on your RescueTime.com dashboard, but it should all make it there.
Joe replied on July 23, 2009 15:05 to the question "Is there a Portable / USB version of RescueTime?" in RescueTime:
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The 2.0 version of RescueTime is supposed to have this feature, but it is not working with the releases we currently have out there.
However, I've bumped it back up on my priority list and I hope to have a new release out in the next week that will include the ability to place RescueTime on a USB device and localize all of the supporting files in one directory.
I'll post back here when I've got a release ready for general testing.
Joe replied on July 23, 2009 15:01 to the problem "Offline Tasks pop-up is stuck?" in RescueTime:
The logic for the Offline Time works like this:
If there is no keyboard or mouse activity for 5 minutes, display the Offline Time dialog and continue updating the "Total Time Elapsed" until there is some sort of keyboard or mouse event detected.
Once activity has been detected the "Total Time Elapsed" counter freezes, and will not restart regardless of how long you let the computer sit. This is somewhat on purpose, but behavior that we may change in the future based on feedback - we've argued about it internally ;)
Once you select an Offline Time button and dismiss the Offline Time dialog, all of the counters reset and the next time a 5 minute "idle" is detected it will re-display the Offline Time dialog with new values.
If your Offline Time is never counting a "Total Time Elapsed" of more than 15 minutes, and it is consistently 15 minutes, then I would hazard a guess that you have another application or process that is sending a keyboard or mouse event every 15 minutes.
In the past, we have seen some screen savers that do this, and there are third party utilities that try to prevent the computer from sleeping by simulating a non-intrusive keypress (like the shift key) periodically.
Let me know if that helps explain what is going on with your system. It is certainly possible we've got a counter bug in there somewhere!
Thank you
Joe replied on July 07, 2009 17:22 to the question "Autolaunch Rescuetime" in RescueTime:
Here are the steps to disable RescueTime from launching when you restart your computer:
Windows (XP / Vista / 7):
- Go to the Start Menu -> All Programs -> Startup -> Right click on the RescueTime icon and choose delete
OS X
- Go to the Apple Menu and select System Preferences -> Accounts -> Login Items -> Select the RescueTime icon and click the "-" button
Thank you!
