A comment on the problem "Songbird does not sync whole library with a MTP?" in Songbird:
The problem is that you can't export playlists with songs with non standard ascii characters. So the workaround doesn't work for me. – faaaab, on May 26, 2009 20:04-

This add-on does this : Playexport (at least for playlists) but I agree, it should be in the core.
I hope it helped
faaaab replied on April 24, 2009 09:09 to the question "why won't songbird transfer the year metadata to mp3 player?" in Songbird:
Could you tell us what's your mp3 player?
I used to have a similar problem on my Sony NWZ-E438F. Year tag was always unknown but I managed to solve it.
I synchronised once using WMP11. It worked well and years appeared. Now, each time I synchronise using songbird, year tags are correct. Maybe some file weren't created by songbird?
I don't know if it could work for you but it worked for me.

Still no sign that this problem has been officialy recognized despite the fact we are quite a lot experimenting it... Being able to see it on various brand players (Philips, Sansa, Samsung, Sony, Nokia...) I do not think it's a so small issue to be ignored! There are 2 bug entries on bugzilla for this (Bug 15324 Bug 15394) and one has even been closed! Most of these devices worked on 1.0 and are officially labelled as "Working" on the official "MTP device support page" so they were supposed to be supported.

Nice musical tastes, BRMC are the best. Nice picture too by the way ;-) – faaaab, on April 21, 2009 07:44

Exactly the same problem here with my Sony NWZ-E48F. Files are partially synchronised but songbird is saying the synchronisation is complete. This songs can't even be sent manually (everything happens like if they were transfered except that it's lot faster and the song s aren't transfered).
During the synchronisation, the name of files which are not transfered is seen (in the Copying... field) during a blink of an eye. So these songs are seen but they aren't transfered.
No matter how many times you try, it is always the same songs which are transfered and which aren't
The problem happens for both Smart and non-smart playlist.
These files ARE compatible with the device as I was able to send them with Songbird 1.0, WMP11 and Windows Explorer
I tried to completelly uninstall and re-install songbird but it did not solve the problem (however, a hundred more songs were sent during synchronisation)
I'm on Windows XP SP3 with Songbird 1.1
From what I have seen now, it seems that this problem is often related to Sony and Sony Ericsson devices (unlucky us...). But it seems that someone have a similar issue with a Sansa Clip (Bugzilla 15324) and a Nokia mobile phone (Bugzilla 14651)
There are other entries for this problem on Bugzilla : Bugzilla 15394 and on Getsatisfaction ; http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/topics/sony_nwz_s639f_sync_issue http://getsatisfaction.com/songbird/topics/problem_using_mtp_with_sony_nwz_e438f_delay_sync_playlists
I hope this information will help

faaaab replied on March 27, 2009 09:20 to the problem "Problem using MTP with Sony NWZ-E438F (delay, sync, playlists...)" in Songbird:
Yesterday, I uninstalled songbird totally, erased manually all my profile folders then re-installed it, re-imported my library from iTunes, formatted my walkman and try a fresh new sync.
A hundred more songs were transfered than last time but the problem still remains, some songs are ununderstandably skipped
