A comment on the idea ""Flights" page should default to Your Flights not All Flights" in Jetrecord:
No probs - it's just an idea - not a major issue :) – Falcon124, on September 04, 2008 00:10
A comment on the question "What ROUTE do you use for an off field landing?" in Jetrecord:
Creating your own points directly on the map would be great. Uploading GPS data would be an awesome thing. – Falcon124, on September 04, 2008 00:04
A comment on the idea "Enhanced search for Airports" in Jetrecord:
Yes and No - if I search on YMMB I can find the ROUTE and my FLIGHTs with YMMB in them, but no mention of it as an airport. Mind you, I did only just add YMMB as my home base an hour ago, so perhaps Google hasn't indexed it yet? :) – Falcon124, on September 03, 2008 21:41
Falcon124 asked a question in Jetrecord on September 03, 2008 21:37:
What ROUTE do you use for an off field landing? When logging glider flights, it is not uncommon to end up landing somewhere that isn't an airport (and it's not unheard of on some powered flights :) How do we show the landing point on a ROUTE? Would we need to create a new Fix?

Google Maps for ROUTEs on circuits & training flightsGoogle map only displays if ROUTE has a start and end airport - what if you're doing circuits or going to the training area? I've had to set all my ROUTE values to YMMB YMMB for circuits and flights to the training area. The system should recognise that a single value ROUTE means the start and end points are the same.

No Google map display on some flightsI have some flights with a route of YWCK YWCK that do not show the Google Map. At first I thought it was because I had a ROUTE of YWCK (same thing was happening with my YMMB flights). I saw Steven Pam's flight had YPEF YPEF and displayed a map, so I changed over to YWCK YWCK and YMMB YMMB but still no map. Then I made YMMB my home base and suddenly my flights with YMMB YMMB routes all started showing maps but my YWCK YWCK flights still don't.

"Flights" page should default to Your Flights not All FlightsIt's probably just my ego, but I would prefer it if the Flights page defaulted to "Your Flights" when you open it, not "All Flights" :)

Enhanced search for AirportsThere doesn't seem to be an easy way to find an airport when in the "Airports" list - you have to keep paging through. Would be very handy to search by name, ICAO code, FAA code, etc.

Yup - that sorted it out - thanks :) – Falcon124, on September 02, 2008 20:27

A comment on the idea "Add an "Instructor" field" in Jetrecord:
Having a dynamic ability to link one or more people sounds like a great idea. The only other types I could see would be Flight Engineer, Crew and Passenger (for those who want to record when they flew some celeb around :)
NOTE: My concern with looking up other JetRecord users is making sure it doesn't slow the system down populating the look up (when this site has more pilots on it, etc). Depends how the text box would operate with the looking up bit. Perhaps it should default to looking up just those people a user has already listed in this area in past flight records. Then go to JetRecord users and free text, etc. – Falcon124, on August 31, 2008 21:44
A comment on the problem "Can't add an Aircraft Company" in Jetrecord:
Thanks for making me a company editor, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference. There's now "Add Company" next to the company drop down nor any other place to create a new aircraft company. Am I missing something or doing it wrong?
NOTE: Good idea to have a "Company Editor" option - you don't want people creating all sorts of companies left, right & center :) – Falcon124, on August 31, 2008 20:30

Add an "Instructor" fieldHow about adding an "Instructor" field for the name of your instructor? Could also be used for examiner, check pilot, etc.
I've been putting my instructors in the comments section.

Can't add an Aircraft CompanyI've just gone to add a glider I used to fly - a Let L-13 Blanik.
The system won't let me do it as I can't find the company "Let" in the list and there's no way to create a new company.
Are you able to load "Let" into the company list? Or, better yet, allow people to add their own Company.-

Awesome - that really helps (especially on my lower res system :) :) )

White space is important - I'm a fan of it too - but perhaps 5% each side instead of what appears to be 15-20% each side :) – Falcon124, on August 23, 2008 03:35

Lots of wasted space at the sides and crunched content in the middleI'm using FireFox 3 on a Linux based laptop with a 1024x768 resolution. The content of "Show Flights" (and other areas) is scrunched into the middle of the page with lots of wasted white space around the ages.
Using FireFox 2 on Windows XP with a resolution of 1440 x 900 the display is better but there's still lots of wasted space at the sides.
I'd recommend that you reduce the % used for the left & right sides of the page if possible - it would help view each flight on a line without wrapping, etc.
