Hi Portjeffmd,
We will never shut down your wiki and you won't lose any information by changing plans.
If you have upgraded in the past and are not interested in maintaining your current premium plan, your data will remain on your PBwiki. If you have uploaded beyond the limits of your new plan, you data will be accessible on the wiki however you will not be able to upload new files, pictures, documents, etc.
You can locate our pricing and features list by clicking the "add features" button on your PBwiki.

My original question still not answered. Will you just shut me down one day for not upgrading? Are you considering a lower level of service. I don't mind paying something but $500 is steep if premium services not needed.
Should I copy the pages to a 'Personal' Wiki to avoid loss of info? Service is great and would not mind paying more modest fee

Hi,
Since I'm in Tech Support and not Marketing, I don't have the official word on this, but I think it's to fit with a "try before you buy" model. Because wikis are free to make, individual users can try things out first and see how they like the service, without having to commit immediately. From there, you can upgrade if you find that you need more features.
You can also go to any free wiki and click "Add Features" and you get the individual pricing plan, like here: https://non-educational.pbwiki.com/up...
I think everyone at PBwiki would agree that one of our greatest joys is to work with individual users. We definitely appreciate your comments and hopefully you'll try us out!

I don't get it -- why do you guys make this information so hard to find? I can't seem to find any feature/pricing information (aside from the business prices on the main business page) anywhere on pbwiki.com. Apparently I'd be able to get this information if I created some kind of account or created a wiki, but why do I have to do that? Is this a subtle hint that you prefer not to deal with individual users?

MY MISTAKE (sort of)
I found the history link hiding after my user name. It's instructive to note that even when looking for it down there, I didn't notice it.
That's because you append the link to the end of the author's name, which the user's eye just skips right over.
Since History is such a critical feature of a Wiki, perhaps you should bump it up into the nav bar. It's equally as important as "New Features" :)

Krissy,
I see no "history" button at the bottom of my pages. If you mean a button only available to premium users, you should say so.
And if that is the case, and I have no version histories, this is not a wiki, and I will be moving my site immediately. I like this product, but I won't even consider a product my users cannot also use for personal accounts, and a wiki -- free or not -- is worthless without some level of versioning.
I hope I am use missing something, or the theme is hiding the history link. Please advise?
Tech replied on January 26, 2008 15:10 to the question "I want to mess around with the text and link formatting. Where do I go for some help?" in PBwiki:
Ok, I just found the "Insert plugins" on the toolbar. Virtually nowhere do you direct new users to that feature, and we become so accustomed to toolbars, that we tune them out when exploring new services. It would really help if your had an FAQ on the settings page that displayed a "commonly used features" section for stuff like this.
Update
I just noticed my "Welcome" email, that arrived late, and amid a bunch of Changebot notices. It indeed directed me to plugins, but again, having such things in the interface is much more intuitive to power users who will ALWAYS skip the intro emails (and novices will simply not understand the significance at that early stage).

With all the links you have at the bottom of your pages, and your huge support page with mostly wasted space, why are you making users hunt around for formatting and editing text, when you actually have at least one page for it, as I only learned by finding Casey's post above. However, her first link doesn't work, and the second is advanced stuff, where the need is for wiki fundementals. And Clif mentions "plugins" which are nowhere to b e found on the GUI or anywhere else, that I can find.
Your "help" link points to the completely unhelpful support topics page (but does get the user here to GetSat). Most new (and some veteran) wiki users need formatting help rather often, and making it less than intuitive to display with a click is just not working for them--or your marketing effort.
I fully understand the constraints of starting a new venture, but finding the Help page f is rather a basic requirement of any user interfeace. I think you have a fine product start here, and I'm sure 2.0 will have many improvements, but a simple help page and link isn't a big fix for the current version. New release dates tend to slip. You have customers now :)
