Farhad replied on September 11, 2009 16:01 to the problem "Where did all the dots go?" in DotSpots:
I see the dots on that page... that said, there is currently an intermittent bug that sometimes causes dots not to appear on the page (in that case your browser bar icon should show "..." instead of "ds"). In that case, you should Reload or Refresh the page and that seems to work.
Obviously, this is far from ideal, but we're trying to track down this pesky intermittent bug.
Thanks for you patience and please keep the feedback coming.
Best,
Farhad.

You bring up one of the key developmental questions for DotSpots: How can we quickly, efficiently and scalably determine the quality of contributions in the system?
If we do this well, our system will thrive. If we fail at this... umm, well... let's just say it won't.
Anyway: We've started with a simple system, just to get something out the door and start getting content... we'll then upgrade it as needed, depending on usage.
Your ideas are good ones... keep in mind that soon we'll have a "follow" based system too and that will go a long way to determining who's trusted by the community as a whole (and by you as an individual user).
