richmintz started following the question "IWS Calendar sync with iPhone" in I want Sandy.

Daily Digest functionality suggestionsI'm a consultant with multiple clients, and I use a modified Getting Things Done (GTD) routine with Sandy to manage a busy and complex web of obligations. Ideally, I'd like to see the following on my Daily Digest, more or less in this order:
1. calendar items for today (such as appointments)
2. dated @todo items with dates coming up soon (e.g., next 7 days). These are, in essence, todo items that I've brought onto the front burner and made active by scheduling them for an upcoming day.
3. all @todo items for each of my Projects (example: @client1, @client2, @home, @family). To accomplish this, I habitually tag every todo item with both @todo and a Project tag like @client1, and I customized my Daily Digest to include sections for @client1, @client2, @home, @family, etc. at the top.
4. items (non-todos) in various fixed categories I like to look over every day, like my list of things to @read, things to @buy, etc.
5. all remaining @todo items -- these should all be duplicates of items in 3, but I scan them each day to make sure I didn't forget to tag any new todos yesterday with a Project, then I throw away these last page(s) of my printed Daily Digest
I can hack all this together in a more or less acceptable fashion using the existing Daily Digest functionality -- *except* for item 2. The dated @todos are buried in the other categories lower down (they don't even float to the top of their own categories, above the undated ones). Could you implement a way to somehow call out dated @todos so they floated to the top (near the calendar items), or were otherwise more visible?
The hack is for me to manually tag every dated @todo with an additional tag like @dated. But that feels like a less than ideal solution.

This issue is currently driving me crazy. In particular, I have old tags in my cloud that I don't need anymore, and apparently the only thing that is keeping them around is that I referenced them in an ancient email to Sandy -- which there is no way to delete. (Unlike *items*, Sandy doesn't give you a way to forget *emails*, does she?)
Eventually this will make Sandy unusable for me, if every time I create a tag I have to worry that it will hang around forever and ever and ever.
richmintz replied on March 12, 2008 20:29 to the problem "Deleting or editing tags" in I want Sandy:
Rael, I still can't figure out how to get rid of empty tags. In particular:
* I create a tag called "foo" (e.g., for testing purposes)
* I delete all items with the "foo" tag
* The tag persists in my tag cloud for some period of time
* If I have referenced the tag in any emails to Sandy, it persists forever
right?
How do I get rid of it?

Sandy doesn't handle relative dates intuitivelyI don't feel like Sandy is always handling relative dates quite right.
Today is Wednesday the 12th. If I say "Tuesday," Sandy thinks I mean Tuesday the 18th (which I think is right). But if I say "next Tuesday," she thinks I mean Tuesday the 25th -- when, in almost all cases, I mean Tuesday the 18th. (I assume that if I want to refer to a Tuesday after the 18th, I should specify it by date to avoid confusion -- wouldn't most people do the same?)

richmintz replied on December 28, 2007 18:11 to the problem "Reminders sent when item marked @done" in I want Sandy:
Well... that situation would very rarely apply to me, because I don't usually snooze reminders for timed items, only for all-day items like todos.
Example of what i do: I get a reminder at 6am to "call Gary" and I reply with "u#1 tomorrow" to put it off. So I go to bed and get up tomorrow. "Call Gary" is no longer on "today's" todo list, because the item is still attached to "yesterday."
I may be confused about how things work, so I'll experiment a little more in the course of my normal work, and will repost here if there is still a problem.

Alex,
To fire off requests to Sandy, I use a (dedicated) terminal window in OS X, and a script modeled on Geoff's script here: http://getsatisfaction.com/iwantsandy...
So all I have to type is
% sandy r dinner with Mom Monday 8pm-10pm
or
% sandy r milk @groceries
or
% sandy l Johnson (to look something up)
and I get a near-immediate reply by email. It feels very fast and natural, now that I've been doing it for a couple of weeks...
