Preserving tags in vcf imports/exportsCould Sandy preserve tags in imports/exports of contact records, e.g., via the "notes" field? I use Mac OS X Address Book. That way, I could tag in Address Book and expect the tags to be preserved after import.
richmintz reported a problem in I want Sandy on November 23, 2007 22:38:
Uploading vcf record with no nameI uploaded a VCF record from my Mac OS X address book that had no name, only a company name (it was my record for the company Airtran). Sandy added it with a spurious name -- taken from a record I had added earlier in the day. I verified that the text that Sandy assigned as the name was not present in the VCF file I uploaded.

Convert note to contactI just created a few hundred first and last name items for contacts, intending to add their contact information later. Unfortunately, because I didn't use a word like "phone" or "address" when I created them, Sandy doesn't know they're contacts, and there doesn't seem to be any way to convert them! Is there?

Two separate items related to this:
- I now have hundreds of items, and I have to look at them fifteen at a time. This means that "click on Tags in the menu bar" is not a useful strategy for seeing which tags I currently have assigned.
- Is there any way to use the email interface to remove a tag from an item (such as: update #1 -@tagname)?

Delete time reference from an appointment? If I start with this message:
Remind me to call Mom tonight
Then I get "Call Mom" scheduled as an appointment today at 8pm.
Suppose I decide not to call her until another day, but want to keep "Call Mom" as an undated todo. How do I get rid of its association with "today at 8pm," which seems to hang around with it forever?
richmintz replied on November 23, 2007 17:53 to the question "How are you using Contacts?" in I want Sandy:
I would love to be able to use Sandy as my primary contact manager (right now I use Address Book under Mac OS X, syncing to a PDA via iSync). Separate from the syncing issue, that would require some kind of contact index capability that gave me summary results like this:
#1 John Allen
#2 Mark Anthony
#3 Reba Asquith
...
Right now, I'm in the same position as you -- I like Sandy, but don't trust her with my full contact information, because I don't feel like it will be efficient enough to use or keep updated.

Summary format for Sandy's lookup repliesWhen I am looking up a long list of @todo items or contacts (for instance), sometimes (usually) I would like them in tabular format, one line per item. In fact, if a tabular or summary format were available, I would want to set it as my default.

Having Sandy remember larger blocks of textI want to be able to use Sandy to remember longer blocks of text that span multiple lines -- kind of like a small Stikkit. It's okay with me if certain rules apply (like: no blank lines permitted, no lines other than the first may begin with a keyword like "remember").
For instance, this list of steps for a technical task:
remember
How to boot up in single-user mode:
- restart
- command-S
- /sbin mount -uw /
- /sbin/SystemStarter
If I send that to Sandy, she does remember it, but she strings all the lines together -- and cuts off after a certain number of characters (which isn't quite enough for that example).
The original email is saved, so for instance if I "lookup single-user", a reference to the email (but not the contents of it) is provided in Sandy's reply, e.g., as #5, with a link -- but when I click the link to view the email, I can't edit it.
And I can't tag the email with "update #5 @tech" -- if I do, I get a blank reply from Sandy. (This is presumably a bug, perhaps due to the tech team overlooking the possibility that anyone might try to update an email referenced in a Sandy reply?)
Ideally, I could forward an email to Sandy with the subject line "remember @projectname" and she would remember it forever, in a way that made it accessible to me.

This works great for me, at the command line in Mac OS X 10.3. Thanks! The -a option to mail was not supported for me (I'm sure there's an analogue), but I didn't need it, since my mailer is already set up to write the correct "From" address.
I'm going to set up a couple more Sandy aliases like "sandydo" that automatically tag items in certain ways (as with @todo) to reduce my typing even more.
Now what I need is to catch my incoming messages from Sandy in procmail (which I already have running) and echo them to ttyp1 when it is open. THAT would be virtually the same as IM communication (with brief latency) and would be really cool.

Lookup results should be ordered by datetimeWhen I issue a lookup for a date keyword, like "lookup today", the results should be returned to me in datetime order by default, earliest to latest. The datetime used should be the datetime the item itself is scheduled for (with dated and timed items coming before untimed items on the same date), not the datetime that any associated future reminder is scheduled for.

Sandy should permit multiple items without intervening blank linesFor people (like me) who often enter multiple items in a single email, Sandy should allow multiple items on successive lines without intervening blank lines, as long as they all begin with "r" or "remind" or "remember." I learned empirically that she doesn't handle this properly, so I interpose blank lines between my items, but this is a pain, and I occasionally forget.

Snoozing a todo to a future date should reschedule item for that dateI had a @todo item scheduled for today. I snoozed it to Monday. Sandy reported that she would remind me about it on Monday, but the item is still scheduled for today. Shouldn't it be rescheduled to Monday?

Sandy should recognize "noon"Sandy should recognize the word "noon," as in "Remember meeting tomorrow noon-2pm." She scheduled that item at 2pm.-
