I love Amex. They refunded me the entire cost of the 1.5 year old laptop PLUS the $80 that the 'geek squad' charged to look at it and tell me I needed a new motherboard (Duh). FWIW, the 'geek squad' wanted $674 (!!!) to replace the mb. :P

My problem is fixed. American express refunded me the full cost of the laptop plus diagnostic fees. I love the extended warranty offered by Amex! Of course, I still have to get a new one, but I'm not going with Dell this time.

you just called the regular customer service line and didn't have to pay the $50? I'll try that and see once I hear back from Amex.

Amex will cover repair costs for me, yay! However I need an estimate on repair. Anyone know how to get Dell to estimate the cost of repair without calling into the pay service lines? I don't know if Amex will cover the $50 charge to talk to them. I guess that's my next question to Amex..

I haven't called yet so I don't know what the motherboard will cost. Didn't the gpu problem manifest with flashing lines and other graphics glitches?

I have a Dell XPS 1330 that is almost 1.5 years old and out of warranty. It will no longer power up. Battery is fully charged, A/C adapter works but blue light goes off when you plug into the laptop. Based on everything I have read, I need a new motherboard. We can replace a motherboard, but will Dell sell us one? My husband really likes his laptop. :(
