Fernando replied on September 23, 2009 15:51 to the question "Why should the panda be saved?" in WWF:
First of all, it is important to say that species extinction is a natural process that happens over hundreds of thousands and even millions of years.
The problem is the current speed at which species are disappearing. Some experts estimate the rate to be between 100 and 1,000 times higher than the expected natural cycle.
This is directly connected to the way we are over-exploiting our planet and is leading to what scientists call: the 6th wave of extinction.

Hi Jan,
Your video deserves the Oscar, if not for the acting, for the initiative.
And yes, there are other ways you can help us.
One of them is by joining our www.connect2earth.org community, where you'll be able to share videos, photos and ideas.
Or you can visit our http://www.panda.org/how_you_can_help
See you there!

Hi everyone,
As we stated on our reply above, we have not yet seen this email and were unable to find the information on the website provided. This is why it has been impossible for us to comment on this.
We referred to the massacre of narwhals on the east coast of Greenland because it was a similar sad event that happened recently.
If you have the email, please send it to us at questions@wwf.panda.org and we'll do our best to clarify the matter.
