This sounds a lot like my own setup, will have a look, thanks. – fihu, on January 15, 2009 10:10

Lines in vcard backup are hard wrapped after 75 charsI currently use soocial as my primary contacts database because of the edit functionality, *AJAX* thankyouverymuch.
However, as syncing is a bit buggy, I use backup & download to get my contacts and then upload them to the phone manually.
However, inside the .vcf I download, all lines are capped after 75 characters and continue on the next line. I fix this myself with select/replace all, but these lines should not be wrapped in the first place.

Still not working after the latest update.
My latest try, step by step:
1. Manually remove dupes from my contacts and correct some numbers -> 196 conctacts left at soocial.
2. Create backup
3. Sync from N95 - 4 new contacts are sent out, 230 contacts (huh??) are recieved from soocial
4. Check addressbook on N95: fine, but some contacts are missing
5. Check contacts on soocial: now 194 contacts (although 4 new were sent from n95 and I can find those in the db as well as those missing on the N95)
Now, if I start another sync, it cancels stating the "Your phone is having troubles..." message. After that, my phone's addressbook is corrupted. Reboot the phone and everything's fine. Sync again -> crash & break phonebook.
Seriously, :(

Those 200 are a mix of gmail and phone contacts - all duplicates already removed. And I expected all unique (200) contacts on my phone. – fihu, on July 11, 2008 11:02

Leaving aside the "double contacts" issue, that's a different problem.
Some deeper testing, so I've made a backup of my soocial database.
Then, downloaded the contacts (got a .vcf).
Then delete all contacts on the phone, set Sync to "Only to phone" - I want to get all contacts from soocial and overwrite the phone's adressbook. Upon syncing, I get a "server failure" error (or something like that).
Set Sync to "Only to server" as I have a backup (++++ for this feature!) - "server failure".
OK, Sync set back to "both ways" - Sync works, "Sending 200 contacts", afterwards both databases are empty, the latest adressbook changes won, everything worked out as expected.
So I overwrite the soocial database with the last backup and resync the phone - works, "Sync done" success message but I only got 60 contacts on my phone afterwards and all 200 at soocial.
Another sync brings no change, but the "Your phone is having problems..." message.
Not very usable at this stage... :(

No, I've deleted my tumblr connection, i don't need it. But why doesn't ping.fm recognize my Status Updates as the Default Method? – fihu, on July 10, 2008 08:42

When I sync with my n95, it gives out the following message:
"Your phone is having trouble syncing with soocial.com. Visit http://www.soocial.com/support for help."
But it still syncs a bit... in some cases only 3 fields are synced (name, surname, company/email/phone), in some cases everything.
-> n95-1, firmware 20.0.015-

(My account is enabled and my recent posts page shows... well, read this:)
Found a hint: My posts only get posted if I post them explicitly as 'Statuses' (@s prefix with GTalk). I've set my Default posting method to 'Status Updates' (the only option) and so far only used Default... – fihu, on July 09, 2008 13:55

I'm using Jabber/XMPP/Gtalk on my cellphone, GTalk-chatting works fine.
pingdotfm@gmail.com replies and I've authenticated myself via Teh Code.
Test messages work and trigger the "all shiny, you're fine, we'll post it" msg. So do other updates, but nothing shows up in my twitter, brightkite or identi.ca.
Typical posts: "trying to post via xmpp to @pingfm then to @twitter, @brightkite, @identica" - not posted
Same in other languages: "Irgendwie kommt nichts an." - not posted-
