Good suggestion, as the module is duplicating part of the block code, it could infact simply provide a block. Would you like to post this feature request to http://drupal.org/project/getsatisfac... ?

You need to change your input format to "Full HTML". Most likely Drupal security is filtering some parts of Slideshare widget.
To switch input format, go to edit the content and click on the "Input format" link below the textarea.

I always keep closing Twhirl. I think it's a pretty standard behaviour for persistent-applications to be minimized when close button is clicked. Only way to really close them is by right clicking their icon on the tray icon.
