    Hi pumped,

i had the same problem, but found a workaround for me so far.

You have to provide the same folder structure after your music mount-point. In my case my music is stored on a nas. With windows I mounted my mp3z like \\nas\music. Under Linux I mounted the same share like /mnt/music

In this case the folder structure is the same (expect the "root" mount-point of the music).

Now i exported all my ratings with the im-/export rating plugin from my windows machine. After that I was able to import these ratings under linux and they matched to the correct music files!

Of corse this is just a work around but at least the ratings (most important thing for me) was restored!

    Greetings,

    Hey everybody,

its not a real solution but its working for me so far:
With the "rating in-/export" addon I was able to get my ratings from my windows songbird to my linux songbird. The "startdir" was different for both systems (eg: on win something like \\ip\share under linux /mnt/share) but from there everything looks the same (in fact its the same folder just mounted via different ways).

After letting songbird generate the lib rom the folder structure, I was able to import my ratings from my windows installation.

    Hi ethanjim,

to put this right: I don't want to use the same profile for a dual boot system! I just want to use an already build library with another computer. The two systems won't access the library the same time or alternating! I want to switch completely from windows to ubuntu (at least with songbird ;) )
And you are right, the library is managed in the profiles. But to make the (windows-)profile accessable for ubuntu shouldn't be a problem. I already managed it with firefox and thunderbird and they base on the same "engine" like songbird. Some extensions might get lost during this process ... but the greatest lost will be my ratings and everything in my library.

So I'm still searching for an (easy) way to manage this.

The hard way would be, to make an "manual" sql query. I think with some handwork this could work ... but before i'll try this, i'm on the search for an easy way :)

    Greetings,

    Flo
how to create an os-independent librarie?
    Hello everybody,

I'm using songbird for some time now and i really like it! One of the best things for me is the cross-platform ability. I use it with windows for the moment but I will use it with ubuntu very soon.

But heres a point I'm not sure how to solve it an easy way:

My library was build under windows The files are all at a netfolder (\\nas\music) and so they are integrated into the library. That works very good so far. The reason for me, why I did it this way was, because I hoped, the linux version could understand my library this way. But it doesn't :(

So is there a way, to use the same library (settings) for both versions (windows and linux)? Or is there at least a way, to fix this on a established library (wothout loosing ratings etc)?

I hope somebody could help me!
