A comment on the problem "TinyURL expansion userscript not working" in Fluid:
i def. see what yr saying... the tooltip is certainly nice in some ways, but i'm not convinced it's better than the context menu/right click method currently implemented.
when i implemented this originally, i considered several options (including tooltips) and decided i liked the context menu item option the best.
benefits to the context menu:
1. once converted, the url is permanently visible. (you don't have to continue to hover, or hover again to see it)
2. it will very rarely interfere with existing functionality of webapps... very few override the right cilck/context menu.
those two benefits of the context menus are also weaknesses of the tooltip... many websites/apps make use of "title" attributes and taking over the tooltip for this purpose would break that.
so although i agree the tooltip is nice in certain ways, at this point, I'm happy with the current implementation and feel like it's probably the best all things considered. – Todd, on September 17, 2008 19:39

yeah, that uses some Firefox specific stuff...
but the good news is that you don't need it! :0] Fluid SSBs have URL expansion built-in.

Todd replied on July 25, 2008 08:04 to the problem "Can't sign in with OpenID" in Open Web Foundation:
Hey Chris,
I tried many times to login using both an AOL and Yahoo OpenID about 12:30am today (Friday July 25). All attempts were unsuccessful. All resulted in consistent error messages, but they were different for AOL vs Yahoo. I had 100% consistent results in Safari, Fluid, and Firefox, so I don't think it's a client issue of any kind. I've successfully used the AOL id before, but i don't think i've ever used the yahoo one.
Steps encountered when attempting to login with AOL OpenID
1. Visit OWF login form here:
http://openwebfoundation.org/mt/mt-co...
2. Enter AOL OpenID (format: http://openid.aol.com/username) (note: my AIM username is actually an old .mac account so it contains an '@mac.com' in the username portion... i have seen many software products choke on that '@' symbol... might be the cause of an issue.) and click "Sign in" button.
3. Taken to AOL OpenID Sign In Request page to login there (so far so good). Login using this form.
4. Taken back to plain text OWF error page:
http://openwebfoundation.org/mt/mt-co...
with the following error message: "An error occurred: The sign-in attempt was not successful; please try again."
Steps encountered when attempting to login with Yahoo OpenID:
1. Visit OWF login form (same URL as above)
2. enter Yahoo OpenID (format: https://me.yahoo.com/username) . click 'sign in'.
3 Error page appears at this URL:
http://openwebfoundation.org/mt/mt-co...
Screenshot above.
Hope this helps. (yes, I *live* to write detailed bug reports ;0])

Let me try that again. i don't have docs on this one feature, but you can also serve a custom icon specifically for Fluid. Fluid will discover this whenever a user creates an SSB and selects 'use site favicon':
<link rel="apple-touch-icon" href="/path/to/my/icon.png">
just put that in your html and point to an image on any server.

woops... sorry i forgot. you can also serve a custom icon that fluid will use when the user creates her ssb:

serve it just like any other JavaScript. Fluid renders the dock badge label for you. its magic. as for a custom icon, the user will have to select one when she creates the ssb. – Todd, on July 21, 2008 07:24
