Thanks for your reply! I am getting the hang of using my OtherInbox and like it a lot!
Thanks for the suggestion to change some of my services e-mail address to a OtherInbox address. Am I correct in assuming that each OtherInbox address becomes a separate mailbox?
Also, for those services that I want to keep using my gmail address for, is there a way to "force" OtherInbox to identify it as a merchant?
Again, thanks a lot for your answer!
Jody Foo replied on November 10, 2009 19:02 to the question "Getting started - not!" in OtherInbox:
I am looking for a guide showing me some examples of how I can use OtherInbox. I have gathered that I can use at least two domain names:
whatever@username.oib.com and
whatever@username.otherinbox.com
I understand that I can use my otherinbox addresses instead of my regular when I sign up for stuff. I can think of several patterns, such as
* one email address for _each_ person/company that I communicate with
* one email address per kind of person/company that I communicate with
... so on.
What do you use? What have you found to be good setups?
I am also looking for how workflows involving Gmail can look like. E.g. I am currently using a Gmail via Mailplane and OtherInbox via Fluid. Mailplane is on all the time and I get a notification of all email that comes in, event those that OtherInbox eventually will take care of. This sort of makes me aware of those email messages.
Is the ideal setup to _not_ use OtherInbox to sort a primary Inbox, using OtherInbox as a filter before I get e-mail to my regular inbox? If I do so what happens if I decide to move away from OtherInbox? It would be nice if you could guarantee that email sent to whatever@user.oib.com and whatever@user.otherinbox.com will be forwarded to the last primary email address used should I find out that OtherInbox does not work for me (perhaps a "deliver all mail to primary e-mailaddress", setting).
I started using OtherInbox a few days after SWSX but abandoned it a couple of months back. I have now returned and signed up for a premium account because I grew tired of getting unimportant email to my primary inbox that I would like to batch process instead.
During my period of non-otherinbox, I set up a fairly good system of gmail filters, automatically labeling most sources of "unimportant" email and hiding them from my inbox. Then processing them in one go by looking at my "is:unread" search.
It would be nice to e.g. forward e-mail from my primary gmail to a otherinbox address and tell otherinbox, perhaps in the first line of the forwarded email, which Mailbox I would like future e-mail from the forwarded e-mail's sender to end up in.
Thanks!

Jody Foo asked a question in OtherInbox on November 08, 2009 16:53:
How do the "After delivery" settings work? What do they mean?I am using OtherInbox together with my "forward everything here" gmail-address. What I am looking for is a setting where OtherInbox marks e-mail as _read_, removes them from my inbox in Gmail and have them show up as _unread_ in my OtherInbox.
Is the "forward" option unrelevant if I am using Gmail?
Should I intepret "After delivery" as
"After the e-mail has been delivered to OtherInbox from Gmail, do this to the original e-mail in the Gmail inbox"?
In that case, what does "Save all" mean? And what does forward do? Is it for optional forwarding to another e-mail address?
I am not using my otherinbox address that much for now, since I do not know how long I will be using otherinbox, which means, that I do not want to use an e-mail address that I will no longer have control of in say 2 years time. Do most people use OtherInbox to sort their Gmail or do they use the OtherInbox e-mailaddress?-

Jody Foo reported a problem in Adobe on July 30, 2009 08:51:
Slow customer support.Has anybody had problems with slow response times from customer support? In my case I am in the process of purchasing an educational license for Lightroom 2. One step of this purchase is that I have to submit some sort of verification of my educational status.
I placed my order July 24, and submitted the verification on the same day. Yesterday I got an automated message stating that they have not received my verification.
In the worst case, I have to redo the whole process delaying giving me a delivery time of more then one week. The online purchase experience is supposed to be shorter than the offline experience!
