Hey, the beta should work on your setup but some people are running into problems here and there, so nothing is guaranteed to work. I am currently running a very old pc with 1.2gb ram and bumptop runs. So to answer your question a bit, your ram specs are enough to run the beta. – Siru5, on August 29, 2008 11:54

Hi, a friend told me of your great program i got very excited when i saw a video and couldnt wait to get mine. We were wondering if the beta would work on a windows xp with 1.5g ram. We were also wondering if when our beta invites would arrive, we both check our emails about 10 times a day just waiting for it. We are very excited and happy that we will get a chance to use this program. Thank You

We understand the frustration you all share, and I'd just like to share with you why it might be taking longer than you wish.
BumpTop is still in beta, which means it's getting there but it isn't quite there yet. The version everybody's seen in demos was functional but didn't integrate with the Windows filesystem at all-- it was exclusively for demonstrating the interface. It also didn't have near the level of polish and stability that all of you need to be using BumpTop on a daily basis.
We don't want to open the floodgates until BumpTop is ready, but we're working hard nonstop to get to that point-- and we really appreciate your patience!!

Then how come mine hasn't come. I've read that some people have only waited a week to a month. I've waited a year, and recently got a new e-mail account. I signed up again about two months ago and still nothing. – Niko Kruzel, on August 27, 2008 20:47

I WAS REALLY excited to try this software. Been reading all your comment and it bumped me out...cuz somehow it just seems like TOO MUCH a wait. I LOVE customizing my pc and trying new apps...and i saw this one looked over for the download...and never found anything until i realized I had to sign up! Then I started the wait and after a day...it just made me wonder why i had no reply yet. Then i read this blog and realized i was probably in for a LONGER WAIT than the one I thought :(... I tried the "Real Desktop" app, but it seems NO WHERE as good as this one. The BIGGEST downer there was the gallery, and the tidy options BumpTop has. I guess i was just a mile away from total excitement and didn't even realized it xD. I'll just get to be more patient i guess, but i don't really think that should be necessary. I wonder why there isn't a download option in their main site so others don't have to wait AS LONG, and that way, the BumpTop project could grow to unscalable heights! I work as a graphic designer, know my 3D and my animation pretty well and could probably help some if it was publicly available. Too darn bad it's not...

About Microsoft Surface and BumpTop-- Microsoft Surface is primarily a multitouch hardware platform. Microsoft has written applications for it of course but no general purpose desktop application as far as we know. BumpTop is software that completely replaces your desktop with a new 3D, physics enabled desktop. So, actually, Microsoft Surface would be a great platform for BumpTop--they're not mutually exclusive.

Bumptop is a computer application that replaces the desktop of a computer; Microsoft Surface is a literal table that you can manipulate things on. – Sum1Else, on August 25, 2008 05:25

i just signed up yesterday and i've been checking my email every five minutes. I Think that this will be the next great innovation, something that apple would have made. This is truly groundbreaking. But when I read your guys comments, I don't know if its worth waiting 15 months. But I'll still check it every day.
