Hi, sign ups are restricted to the United States because of a lack of geocoding data for Canada. We would require inexpensive geocode (postal code to lat/lon) to include Canada, which we would love to do. Given our tight budget it has not been possible. We could open registrations to Canadians but they would not be able to use the locality and mapping features.
foody replied on July 29, 2009 20:13 to the question "Why do some maps show an incorrect location for a farm?" in farmfoody:
If you find some maps that do not match the address of the farm, this may be due to several reasons. There is a bug affecting map marker positions in certain circumstances (when an incorrect geocode gets stuck in the cache) and the map may show Europe or some other silly location when the farm has not specified a lat/lon. We are working on this.
We rely on a third-party geocoder for translating street addresses into map locations. Sometimes this fails, especially for rural locations, for which there is no corresponding location in the database.
The zip code may be used instead, and it will be close to the farm, but we have no control over what the geocoder returns. It is the farm's responsibility to use the Location tool to put the marker precisely where they wish it to be.
We welcome any reports of incorrect map locations, but we may not be able to do anything about it other than asking the farm to set their location using lat/lon.
