Amir: nice of somebody to finally start answering some posts here, but how arrogant are you to mark this issue as solved before waiting for further feedback from your users? your answer DOES NOT solve the problem. allowing users to gain karma by cheating while honest users lose karma because of your stupid algorithm IS the problem. unfriend/unfollow the offender DOES NOT make the problem go away, a point that's already been made over and over again.

lchamp: unlike too many others, you have shown some respect for the many users who do think that karma is an important issue. thank you for that. I agree with you that it doesn't make any sense why the A-Team continues to implement the karma algorithm as it is and upset so many users. And I think that their continued failure to respond to so many of these kinds of identified problems here on getSatisfaction demonstrates a disdain for their users.

clickykbd: you're entitled to your opinion, but so are the many of us who think that it's non-trivial ... those plurkrs who are constantly elevated to prominent positions acc. to karma rank and other comparisons are consequently seen to be a class 'elite' ... other plurkrs are seen to have less status, by comparison ... perhaps you're not taking it seriously enough.

Don't you think it's pretty ridiculous that you and I and other people have felt that it was necessary to ask them to post on their own blog? I'll say it again... lack of timely communication is Plurk's biggest problem. – Greg Fowler, on August 30, 2008 20:42
A comment on the idea "Eliminate Karma." in Plurk:
A 'not participating' option is essentially the same suggestion as those who say 'just ignore it.' It does nothing to address the problem, which is the fact that Plurk has established a competition that pits users against one another. Pretending that this class system doesn't exist doesn't make it go away. – Greg Fowler, on August 30, 2008 20:33

I regret that I can't help you with your current problem, but I strongly recommend KeyPass (http://keepass.info/) in order to avoid any future problem remembering your password. What's more, it'll enable you to use separate passwords for each site and much longer ones, which is much more secure.-

From http://plurkingpoppa.wordpress.com/#k... ... "Karma is a ranking system. It rates the “worth” of plurkers, one against the other." That's bad enough. But add in secret algorithm which penalizes honest peeps unfairly and INVITES dishonest behaviour like bots, and it's abhorent. So despite the fact that I've managed a rank of #42 globally and #2 in Canada, I wouldn't shed any tears to see it go. Thumbs up!

Karma BotsPosted as directed by @amix... It's beome apparent over the past couple of days that @martinbogo is running a bot to avoid losing karma for inactivity. Only immediate action by the A-Team to put a stop to this dishonest practise and to strip @martinbogo of karma earned by this practise (and award karma penalties that would otherwise have been assessed) will preserve Plurk's reputation. Anything less than that is blatant disrespect for all the honest plurkers who routinely suffer karma loss because of inactivity.

"Back to Start" Arrow Icons Are BrokenToday is Aug. 17, but as often as I click on the LH "Back to Start" arrow icon, it doesn't show me anything more recent than Aug. 13. For that, I have to click on the "My Profile" link. And the RH "Back to Start" arrow icon still doesn't perform as it intuitively should and take me to the very beginning of my timeline (in my case that's June 2 I think).
Greg Fowler replied on August 16, 2008 16:01 to the problem "interesting plurkers page showcases friend-spammers" in Plurk:
Is there a reason why you have to present us with your choices of what's important? I'd like a table with separate SORTABLE data columns that includes things like nick, plurks, replies, views, friends, fans, karma, etc. Let me decide from the raw data who I determine to be interesting acc. to my own criteria. Frankly, the way you've constructed your karma algorithm, esp. the way you punish those of us at the high end if we don't plurk every 4 hours, I think you've got a corporate bias against ordinary users. I'd love for you to prove me wrong, but it'll take more than just saying so.

Are they following me (fan status), or not?I received an alert this morning that somebody had made me their fan and requesting friend status. Not knowing them, I decided to simply reciprocate by making them a fan of me. But when I went to their profile page afterwards, it said that they can't have fans because of their privacy settings. So, are they following me or not?
