A comment on the idea "Explain karma loss or gain." in Plurk:
Please tell how publishing the karma algorithm would expose Plurk to abuse? Continued secrecy will allow people who know the algorithm to capitalize on their secret knowledge to the detriment of the rest of us. Maybe you're one of the one's "in the know"? – Greg Fowler, on July 18, 2008 21:47-

Greg Fowler asked a question in Plurk on July 18, 2008 20:25:
Is Plurk playing favorites?I'd like to know why everybody didn't suffer the same karma loss while Plurk was down 2007/07/18? and how did some Plurks actually GAIN karma?

User Ombudsman, not EvangelistPlurk needs more than a community evangelist/PR schmoozer. The world has enough BS artists already. Whether it's emails to the A-Team which they haven't bothered to respond to, or questions here or on Plurk itself that go unanswered, what's obvious is that there is a need for a good communicator on the A-Team whose job it is to answer questions related to Plurk. Make the product better, and responsive to the users, and the PR will take care of itself. (Greg Fowler aka fowgre aka PlurkingPoppa; 2008/07/17)

Greg Fowler asked a question in Plurk on July 16, 2008 15:48:
What's the max. display width of a graphic on Plurk?I wonder if there shouldn't be a width restriction imposed upon graphics since wide ones can really monopolize the timeline and may be an invitation to hackers, spammers, etc?

Auto-update breaks too oftenWhy does auto-update break so frequently? Do you have to disable it for some reason every time that you want to test something new?

Can we have the calendar back? When you implemented the search feature, why did you take away the calendar?
Greg Fowler reported a problem in Plurk on July 16, 2008 04:02:
Smart Nick Detect vs 140-char LimitWhen abbreviating a nick during a reply (smart nickname detection), the char count does not accurately reflect all of the chars in the nickname to be expanded. The result, after hitting the 'Enter' key, is an "unknown error" message. The reason for the error isn't necessarily immediately obvious to the user (in my case it happened quite a few times before I clued in), so can you edit the char count routine so that it factors in all of the nick's characters and reports the accurate count to us?

I've said from the beginning that the lack of transparency with respect to the karma algorithm is a black mark against the A-Team and that they either need to improve their communication skills or hire somebody with them. FWIW I say, publish the algorithm! And I also agree with @sneakers that there should be as much upside potential as downside. The 0.09 cap makes no sense to me at all.

I appreciate that info Alvin, but I'd still like to see fiveinchpixie's points more fully addressed. I'm particularly interested in knowing why you've got a "back to start" popup blue arrow on the right-hand side of the timeline in addition to the left-hand side. Intuitively, I would expect (and really appreciate) a "back to end" (of unread plurks/replies) on the right-hand side. Dragging/scrolling/arrowing is ok for some I guess, but I've often got +300 unread replies to check out, and I prefer to do it oldest->newest.

Greg Fowler asked a question in Plurk on July 14, 2008 18:01:
Datestamped Timeline RequestedPerhaps I'm just easily confused, but when I'm browsing unread replies I'd really appreciate seeing the date on the timeline so I know at a glance how old the plurk is, or at least provide that info along with the time when I hover my mouse over top of the plurk.

Alvin: I didn't know that there was any difference between "unfollow" and "remove as a friend" because there's no mention of that on the Plurk blog or in the Plurk FAQ. After your last reply I checked out one of my friend's profile pages and spotted the "Don't follow..." link on top of the "Remove...as friend" link. So, apology for my last reply to you. And thanks for that info. I'm not totally clear what it is exactly, but I'll take you word for it that I'll still be able to plurk to them via clique. Since I've created a different GetSatisfaction thread about the blacklist issue, I'm going to mark this thread 'solved' (for now LOL). Thanks again.

Greg Fowler replied on July 12, 2008 21:18 to the problem "Blocking needs drastic improvement! - Can't block from user profile, etc." in Plurk:
@amix agreement (http://www.plurk.com/p/19lid#response...) to allow us to block from other user's profile pages is a slight improvement only. It ignores the request that we be allowed to block from a plurk's permapage. And it ignores the problem reported by me (http://getsatisfaction.com/plurk/topi...).
Greg Fowler shared an idea in Plurk on July 12, 2008 21:08:
A Command Interpreter Would Aid EfficiencyWhat's the chance that the first word of a plurk could be a command instead of a constructor? For example, "BLOCK JoshMeister" would carry out that command from your own profile page, or another person's profile page, or even as a reply to a plurk written by a 3rd person. Another example, "MARK ALL READ" or "MARK ALL UNREAD." Another example, "SHOW MINE" or "SHOW PRIVATE" or "SHOW ALL." Just the tip of the iceberg.
