We can select stories, but I don't even know what that is useful for. I can't seem to move multiple stories together, nor can I edit them all to have the same information (points, whatever).

The question ends up being the UI. How do you indicate dependencies. Drag and drop would be nice, but then how do you reorder?

Maybe there could be another type of item: master task. Features could then be added to "master tasks", indicating dependencies. Would that become cumbersome? We'd need some user testing.

The way I do dependencies is to order the stories in such a way that dependencies are completed before the story I'm looking at.

Since you can't build authorization before you have authentication, you would put authentication before authorization.

Also, the iteration itself might be the "bigger story": a single iteration for authn / authz.

Why are standard deviations not shown in the response time graph in the weekly performance report? Having averages is great, but if standard deviation is 2x the average, that would indicate something very wrong.

3 days is over the weekend. I can't look at my memory consumption graph over the weekend. From the 7 days view, it looks pretty flat, but I'm not 100% sure. And during the week, we deploy consistently, so there's no way to look at long-term memory usage.

I wonder why everyone is doing it, but looking at the available subscriptions for NewRelic had me wonder.



What if I want transaction traces but not weekly comparisons? Maybe the incident analysis isn't what I want or I have another solution to do that?

What I'd really want is to be able to select individual services I want to buy, and pay for them piecemeal.

So for example, maybe each service is 10 USD/month/host. That leaves the total subscription price nearly the same from what it is right now for bronze and silver. This way you could even see which services are more popular and change your infrastructure and code to match people's expectations.

Anyway, I wanted to open a discussion on this and see if that's something that could be possible.

Highlighting weekends

In the graphs, it would be nice if weekends were highlighted. This also relates to API to add bars for interesting events on graphs, although this would not be an API.

And what happens if an app server is replaced ? Such as on EC2. I will replace our application servers with new ones shortly, and was wondering about this myself. The host name will change, but the old mongrels won't report anymore. How will that be handled?

The EXPLAIN details were there a couple of days ago, but don't show up anymore. This is sad, since this information was really helpful. I haven't changed my configuration (and have SVN logs to prove it!)

Another idea that struck me is to have an interface to do that both from the website AND during deployment (Capistrano or such). I could use the web interface to say "Sale starting now" and "Sale ending now", or "Slashdotted by X". The computer API would mostly be used for deployments, as I have already said.

I can confirm that this is true. The requests ended up not doing anything. I had a database outage (mysqldump with FLUSH TABLES WITH READ LOCK), and no requests could get through. That would explain why there are no URLs.

Is there a way to add interesting events on the graphs? Such as deployments, or other things? Looking at our memory usage graph, I know I deployed on Friday (the 15th), but having a vertical bar in the graph, it would this very, very obvious.
