Looks like it was GroupTweet or something similar that caused this behavior.-

If a third-party client or service is indeed echoing direct messages sent to you, then it will need to know your Twitter password to gain access to your direct messages.
If that's the case, then perhaps changing your Twitter password will help... at least until you figure out what's going on.
It seems unlikely that Twitterfeed is responsible for this because those messages would read "from Twitterfeed" if that were the case.

Hi Jack, thanks for your reply. I had thought of that but all I can think of signing up to is twitterfeed.com. My replies should arrive by mail in my Gmail account and that's not being used anywhere else for republishing. Is there any way you can "see" what's happening when someone DM's? Ofcourse after the downtime of today :-)
