A comment on the question "What bitrate in iPhone Spotify?" in Spotify:
What? 128kbps on my old iRiver e10 sounds better than 1411kbps on my iPod. The bitrate excuse is getting old.
It's a known fact that the 3.5mm jack on portable Apple products is craptastic. Of course, this does not apply to when using a LOD. – Fratey, on October 29, 2009 15:08

Plugging in an iPhone into a HiFi system is effectively limiting it's fidelity. It's like putting a Toyota engine into a Ferrari (unless you use a LOD for your iphone)
edit: but I'm not supposed to sit here and leave comments like that; I'm sure you are aware of it anyway. Sorry! – Fratey, on October 27, 2009 20:39
Fratey reported a problem in Spotify on October 27, 2009 16:26:
How can Spotify be so slow on one computer, but not on another?Basically, on one computer everything with Spotify runs ridiculously slow. the "Home" menu can take about 40 seconds to load, and loading and fast forwarding in a slow usually is like syrup. Playback once a song loads, however, is nice (assuming I don't jump forward or back).
However, on another computer on the same network (with even worse specs!), everything is fluid.
What's weird is that playback sometimes decides to act very fluent when, say, switching between songs in a playlist; while, for example, the radio is still very slow.
This is on a premium account.
Both computers are running XP. I have more than enough disk space on both computers.-

A comment on the question "Why does spotify consume so much bandwidth even when being a paying user?" in Spotify:
JB, a 10% decrease in uploaders for a large amount of satisfaction is hardly a 'big change', especially if we consider that Spotify grows very rapidly so these 10% peers will be made up for quite fast. – Fratey, on June 30, 2009 12:45

getsatisfaction is a mess and not only is it impossible to find the search, the results don't get that accurate. – Fratey, on June 27, 2009 20:09

Yeah, but it's because I get lots of upstream bandwidth. I can download a file at 95% of my total bandwidth (so that's about 1100kb/s or 8,8mbps) and still play and host games fine - but I cannot stream 160kbps Vorbis (which is essentially like what, 20kb/s?) via Spotify without getting network lag. This is especially annoying as my parents use Spotify Premium and I cannot control when they listen.
JB, so 1188 kronor a year isn't enough helping? I'm all for a sharing society, but some people chip in using different ways. Again, it would seem quite fair if one of the advantages of being a Premium user is to be able to play games while my parents enjoy some Agnes, Katy Perry, and Rammstein in the living room.-

Fratey asked a question in Spotify on June 26, 2009 21:15:
Why does spotify consume so much bandwidth even when being a paying user? Why does Spotify still seed music even when being a paying premium user? It sucks as I'm unable to host or play online games without having lag spikes due to spotify seeding stuff, and it's unfair that I as a paying customer have to live with this. I can understand it for the free version, but not the premium one. I'm not talking about normal 'down' bandwidth as that shouldn't eat too much of the connection.
