A comment on the problem "Xmarks is not flawless after all: A bizarre story of vanishing folders..." in Xmarks:
The loss of folders also had to do with backup. I have a paid online storage (MozyHome) that is running in the background all the time. (Like Xmarks) . Maybe they are using the same function in windows, and that function has been messed up. I have run chkdsk , disk recovery, producers disk tools, no errors found, except some peculiarities with folder-/filenames. You can see the folder-/filenames, but you cannot delete/rename/move or do anything about it. I decided to disable both my disks backup and xmarks until I can find out what is going on. – Fred Husby, on November 11, 2009 07:47-

I wonder if this has anything to do with windows? Because I also lost FOLDERS on my DISK! All the lost folders started with 0 (zero) due to my own "invention" alfanumericalfa sort! I do not know, but at least 1 have removed zeros from the beginning of all kinds of folders. -

I am going ton uninstall my NO FireFox, and use only US FireFox, hoping that syncing will behave the same way on different machines? If that's the problem, then we have a problem!

"SMART" Folder naming and sorting! Syncing folders from earth to sky to heaven (or hell?)I wanted to be smart, and "fooled" the alfasort in FireFox by giving my folders names like "00 FOLDER A, -"- B, -"- C",..... "01 FOLDER A, -"- B, .." ,.... "02 FOLDER A", -"- B, ...."- FOLDER A" , "- FOLDER B", "FOLDER A, -"- B, -"- C"
After syncing, all folders with names starting with numbers have disappeared!!
I have two identyties on the same laptop, (on separate disks)
1. Win XP Pro NO, FF 3.5X NO(Newest NO rel), IP NO
2. Win 7 US,FF 3.5X US(Newest US rel), IP US
I have no use for 3 backup cathegories, so I use only mobile
I synced the NO id, and entered the US id the day after. I could not find any of the folders starting with numbers?? Where have they gone?
