This appears to be a Twitter bug; I'm not aware of any solution yet.

Similar problems with @replies seem to have hit a small number of users on and off over the past few weeks.

Sorry but the replies given for this don't seem right. In my settings I've got it set to only show @ replies for other people I follow. So I should not be seeing @ replies to people I don't follow. And yet, I am. Something is wrong. Other people are having this problem too. It's not with everyone, only new people that I start to follow. I do not see everyone's @ replies, only now the new people that I add. It's making Twitter impossible to use... hopefully this problem can be fixed soon.

im having this problem. i have verizon i live in the US. i was trying 40404..i get no verification at all but i do recieve all my updates for the people i follow. i cannot update from my phone.

I'm a Cincinnati Bell customer. Using the 40404 code does not work ... on the other hand using the 21212 code does work for me.
