A comment on the idea "Spotify native on Linux (w/o WINE)" in Spotify:

Libre is free. Free as in beer, as the open source community like to put it. This analogy works because the recipe for beer is free, anyone can make it. Does that make all breweries in the world unethical because they're selling something made from a "free" product?

Does it make selling Windows unethical because it has some files (html and txt) made with open standards?

Does it make selling a game unethical if the game uses any open file formats for its data files?

Does it make selling cable TV access unethical if the digital cable signal uses an open standard?

Track stops playing and can't be restarted.

Out of the blue (perhaps once for every second hour of playing) a track just stops. The play-button indicates Spotify still is in "play" mode, but the progress bar has stopped, and there is no audio.

Now for the interesting part. Pausing and pressing play again does not work. Skipping to the next track works (most of the time, it has failed some times). But returning to the stopped track does NOT play it at all! It looks like Spotifys cache becomes broken. :(

I'm on an Intel Mac running OS X 10.6 and using a HTTP proxy to connect.

Spotify, just seeding the random function with the current timestamp should improve the situation somewhat. :) As it is now, the "randomization" is terrible...

The new post on the dev blog seemed to indicate that they have been channeling all their development resources on the mobile versions. This might also be the reason the desktop version of Spotify haven't received much updates since it's release...
