Jay Petersen asked a question in Polar Rose on September 07, 2009 00:02:
How did my friends-only pictures get on Polar Rose?Deleting my account. Polar Rose changed my privacy settings. I wanted only Public photos to be added to Polar Rose, and that's how I set up my account at first. I hadn't logged in for some time (a few weeks?) Now, I see that the settings have been changed so that all my photos are being added, without my permission to make that change. See ya!

I am still having this problem. Some of my friends have 3 "people" in PolarRose. This is particularly a problem with a friend who I started following before they joined Facebook. Now that they've joined Facebook they have another "person" in PolarRose that I can't seem to merge with the first one. (There is another "person" for him that I created accidentally the way Oliver did.)

"Name People" seems to be brokenI click on "Name People" and name someone and then click "Save" and the window goes away. Usually I get another person to name, but not now. Also if I start again, the same image is offered to me, as if the previous naming process didn't save. I'll try this on another browser, this is on Safari on Mac OS 10.5.x.-

"Name Kept Private" doesn't keep names fully private"Name Kept Private" isn't fully private... person still shows up in alphabetical order by name. If I have a lot of Davids, people who view my photo stream may be able to guess the name of the "Name Kept Private" person by interpolating between named people. I don't know if you consider this a problem, but personally I think they should be removed from the alphabetical sort.
Jay Petersen replied on April 29, 2009 13:58 to the question "I don't want to see Flickr photos with no faces in Polar Rose" in Polar Rose:
Something like the second option, but considering how onerous it is right now to name all of the photos, having an option to mark a photo "contains no faces" or "contains no faces I'm interested in" would work better for me.
Right now, dealing with the false positives (patterns that are not faces at all, or faces I'm not interested in) takes more time than dealing with the faces that Polar Rose is not finding.-

Jay Petersen replied on April 26, 2009 10:10 to the question "stop repeating faces I don't know!" in Polar Rose:
@Joe: I would rather have it be like Gmail. Rather than ask for a confirmation (since most of the time it's not a mistake), automatically accept the Forget/Ignore and show an Undo button.
Tivo changed its interface in a similar way. It used to ask for confirmation for the deletion of a recorded television program. Now, it sends the program to a "recently deleted" folder where you can retrieve the deleted program if you didn't mean to delete it.
