We had almost the same problem. We moved less than a mile away, had our service transferred. Comcast service people come to our new residence to connect everything. Within a week we receive a $400.00 bill from comcast. $286.00 is for the transfer. We weren't aware of any fee's to transfer or we never would have. Then after 2 weeks one of the receivers stopped working. Another comcast service person had to come out to fix it. Turns out the 1st person installed a received that wasn't registered to us. This cost us another $175.00. We had just moved, we couldn't afford all of the bogus fees. They changed our phone number without telling us. It took us a month to figure this out.
We've never had a problem with comcast until we moved. But now red box is looking better all the time.

Door to Door Collections?Comcast had what appeared to be a service person try to collect our bill in person. He wasn't driving a comcast vehicle, nor did he present any identification. We was just wearing an orange vest and asking for a payment from our daughter who isn't responsible for our plan. That's scary!
