Thanks for fixing that so promptly Megan.
I'm glad you enjoyed the trips. I've been enjoying many of yours also. The ice cream parlor in Spain, with all the varied flavors reminded me of a gelato place in Rome, where their flavors were seasonal, depending on the produce- pink grapefruit when they were in season, as well as blood orange gelato, and so many other flavors...
Has Trazzler thought about doing trips in other languages? Or are there trips in other languages already?
Si Trazzler quiere, es posiblile que yo pueda escribir mis viajes en espanol tambien.

2 links dead, one missing on my trips.Hello Trazzler.
First off, thanks for approving some of my trips as Trazzler Trips.
On to business. I found problem links on three different trips, two of which were part of the aforementioned ones that were approved.
Trips #8400 and #16116 both have a null link in the body. Both of them can be the same link as the title link.
My User Trip "Savoring the Freshness in Marshall California" has a screwy title link. It sends the user to Ticketmaster(TM) instead of to www.hogislandoysters.com
These three are all beyond my province of repair. I've checked all the other links on my trips, and they all seem to be okay. Thank you Trazzler

I see you guys partially solved the issue by adding Tomales Bay Oyster Company onto the trip, but that still doesn't fix all of the other misinformation included in the trip.
Drake's Bay Oyster Company is not in Marshall. It is over forty minutes from Marshall, and it is in Inverness, Ca.
Charcoal, limes, hot sauce, salt, oyster knives, ARE available at Hog Island and Tomales Bay Oyster. The trip says they are not available.
Reservations are only available at Hog Island, not the other two places.

Don't worry, it hasn't been too frustrating. It just means I don't have enough to do with my time these days.
I was pretty sure you had something coming, I wasn't too concerned. I had just been trying to think of something that would be simple for all of you, since I am sure you have nearly enough to do with your time. Going over all the trip submissions, editing them, dealing with help queries...
Anyways, I also want to give you guys kudos. I've been really enjoying the site and its concept. Good work, and thank you.

Simple way to let writers know rough status of their tripsI've seen other posts, querying as to status of their trips, wondering if they'd been read. I can understand that. It's the not knowing that can be the worst of all. Rejection easy. Acceptance easy... Not knowing though, is the purgatory that lasts forever...
I was wondering if it might be possible to have a simple coding system- something like a red dot, yellow dot, and green dot next to the edit button on a trip (or somewhere else on the writers page) to let them know the status of their trip.
No dot means the trip hasn't been read. Red dot means Trazzler just isn't feeling the Trip. It's either got to go, or it needs some major revisions. Yellow dot means it has some potential, but it's just not quite up to par. Green dot means it's a good trip, but there is something minor holding it back.
You could go for a more complex system too, add another color or two, but I figured a system like this would be fairly easy for you, the editors, to deal with. Simple click of a button on a trip, and you don't have to go into a lot of detail. (All though chances are you might get a lot of questions as to why a trip was red lighted or yellow lighted, which would then loose you all the time you saved by employing this simple system... Also, since I'm not a programmer, I don't know how hard it actually would be to implement a system somewhere along these lines.)
Anyways, you guys are probably getting tire of hearing from me, but if it makes you feel any better, it's only because I care.

Me1 asked a question in Trazzler on June 04, 2009 21:17:
Trip #'s?I was just curious about how the trip numbers are generated. Are the low numbers stories that appeared earlier in Trazzler's history? Is it something more esoteric? A geographical assessment? Like I said, just curious.
And while I am being curious, maybe I'll ask about a few other things...
How can we find out how many Trazzler Trips there are versus User Trips? Is there a page or some such set up where we can view such things?
Who has the final say in what makes a Trazzler trip? Is it one editor, or do you need a consensus? Why is the sky blue? (Actually, I already know some of the theories on this one.)
How many new trips are being added each month? Has this number been growing, staying about the same? I saw one site that said the number of visitors grew very nicely in the past month or so (Congratulations!) and that there has been a fairly steady rise, with only a few dips since the site began.
Is it possible to write for Trazzler for stock instead of cash?
Is it rude and nit-picky to report typos in Trazzler Trips? This place is pretty new, and I am really new to it, so I'm not sure of the etiquette involved. While I can be oblivious to my own typos, I think I must get some sort of superior feeling for noticing them in others...
I'll probably come up with more questions, but I think that's a pretty good start.

I've had the same problem. It isn't quite that the limit isn't enforced to start off, but certain words and spaces aren't counted the first time around- the automatic "in" before the place name, and the spaces around it, as well as the space after the gerund word. It makes me afraid to edit my trips at time, if I see a spelling error.
The nice thing about it though is that you can get rid of the word "in" when you edit, changing it to more appropriate words like "along" or "by."

Image on a trip is of somewhere elseI read Trazzler Trip #5661, and the photo does not go with places mentioned on the trip. The picture is of Tomales Bay Oyster Company(which isn't mentioned in the trip.) It is not a picture of Hog Island Oysters or Drake's Bay oyster farms which are mentioned in the trip.
Next. The trip says charcoal, lemons, and hot sauce are not available. This is incorrect. All of these are available at Hog Island Oyster Company and Tomales Bay Oyster Company (I'm not sure about Drake's Bay.) Drinks other than water are not available.
Finally, it says the location is Marshall California. Hog Island Oysters is in Marshall, Drake's Bay Oyster Company is forty-five minutes from Marshall.
All right new issue.
I just wrote a trip for Hog Island. The auto link it gave is to some yahoo page. A better link would be- "http://www.hogislandoysters.com/" The name of the trip is "savoring the freshness in Marshall, Ca"
Thank you Trazzler,
Galen

Galen Leeds asked a question in Trazzler on May 30, 2009 14:31:
Are model releases needed?Just curious, what the Trazzler policy is on people in the pictures? Are model releases necessary? Or is this an editorial application, and they are not needed. I have hesitated to wrote some trips, because my favorite images have identifiable people in them.
If releases are necessary, how do I alert Trazzler if I have one for a particular image? I am guessing that I don't want it in the trip text... but maybe I do? That way you won't have to reference a separate email/file?
If model releases are necessary have you thought about having a checkbox/button the writer can click?

PS My spell check doesn't recognize Trazzler. Don't worry though, I'm sure it won't be much longer.
Galen Leeds asked a question in Trazzler on May 30, 2009 14:18:
Found a dead link and making help easier...Hello, two issues. First, I was exploring some of the Trazzler trips, when I came across a dead link on #5661- the link to Hog Island Oyster company. Right now the link reads " http://hogislandoysters.com/v2/ " There is a " v2/ " at the end of the link. If this is removed, it becomes a good link.
Next item (and is it best to address different issues in different posts?) is attending to problems/issues with trips. It is not very user friendly- not that it is very un-user friendly- to report... oh, let's just say a dead link for example.
There might be a more direct way, but it seems that currently, to report something like this, I find the help button on the bottom of the page. This sends me to a FAQ, where I find a link to here. To post anything here, I need to sign in (unless this is my first time on the forum, in which case I have to create an account that I can sign into.) Finally, I can report the bug. To do this, I need to have the trip in question in another tab or the information written down.
I suppose having to do all of this filters out some of the people without serious complaints, but I also know that it has kept me from reporting on dead links on a couple of trips.
I know you are still in the early stages here, but my suggestion would be to have a button on the trip to report issues- one that would auto generate a tag with either the trip number (for Trazzler trips) or the trip and author title (for user trips.)
Well, I suppose that this is more than my two cents, but hopefully you'll take the rest on loan.
Thank you for your consideration.

How can I change the link, if it was added automatically?Howdy. I just added a trip- Farming on the edge of suburbia in Fremont, Ca- and a link was automatically added. It is not the best link for the place. The auto-link is for weddings at this park, only a small part of what goes on there. A much better link would be- http://www.ebparks.org/parks/ardenwood
Thank you very much.
PS, I am a little confused about how to imbed links with in the text of trips. Is it necessary to type link to Ardenwood ? Or is there some other, simpler way? It's a wee bit confusing in the "Writing nuts and bolts." Ha! it took out all of what I typed, and just turned it into the link! Makes it tricky to ask a technical question.
Again, Thank you

Trazzling photos in Portrait Orientation?Does Trazzler plan on making it possible to add photos in the portrait orientation? Landscape orientation is fun, but there are times when portrait can be more dynamic.
I imagine it's because your starting off with a simple one size fits template, as you work out the bugs, but if you ever do begin excepting portrait orientation in larger sizes, it will make me happy. (Of course, I've already figured out one way to get around it... he, he...)
Thank you, and I am enjoying the site so far.
