I ran a 'reset all' and the Vacuum Postbox plugin and an Index All and now things look OK -- have not had the pause since.

Strangely no -- all the drafts folders open quite quickly.

While composing messages, Postbox seems to hang for 30 seconds from time to time. It usually comes back, but during that time it significantly changes the flow of one's thoughts as one tries to write.

Is this a common problem, and what can I do to mitigate it or fix it?

Unfortunately the Facebook API does not support full posting. The best way to get something similar to what you mention is by adding the RSS feed for your Posterous blog (see the rss icon on the right sidebar) to your Facebook Notes (go to the Facebook Notes app)

Postbox hangs for 60 seconds after return from screensaver / standby

On my Macbook Pro, Postbox b10 hangs (beachball) after returning from screensaver for about one minute. It eventually returns and functions, but for that minute it appears hung.

BTW Yoha, thanks for tracking down the 3rd party thing -- that was huge.

Tumblr bookmarklet gets around all of this by popping a new window, which we don't want to do. It will confuse users and the bookmarklet often gets lost easily.

Here is how to handle this situation: In the above mentioned section on cookies, you will see a button titled "Exceptions." Click on that button then enter the Web address of the cookies you wish to acccept by entering "posterous.com". Then click on the "Accept" button and close the window.

Technically, there is no way we can do an in-browser style bookmarklet without third party cookie support. This is no different from Google Reader or Friendfeed bookmarklets.

The workaround above is the solution if you want to keep third party cookies disabled.
