Gary Thompson replied on September 11, 2009 17:14 to the question "Altio commercial licenses?" in Altio:
The downloadable version of Altio comes with a developer license and the ability for 20 users to connect, so for small projects it is free.
For support we view each customer’s business model as unique and find it most productive to design pricing models that align with that of our customers. When not aligned, it becomes difficult to manage for both parties and can be counter to the business strategy you have defined. For a commercial development approach as you describe, we would need to understand more of the model; this said, we may consider no cost approach for use of Altio for software development.
Altio will work with you to determine training needs to the extent required to get you up and running. We can discuss support models for the development process, as well as once the application(s) are delivered and in production where a different level of support may make more sense. It is through our joint experience and an ability to assess and adjust the support model when appropriate that we can both be successful. Fees for ongoing use of the software may be modeled on such drivers as revenue, per user, profit share, per unit or transaction basis; it is important to understand your business so that the costs align with revenues as closely as possible. We welcome a more open dialogue.
Gary Thompson marked one of Graham Howarth's replies in Altio as useful. Graham Howarth replied to the question "How can I configure Tomcat and Altio to use JNDI data source for JDBC Altio services?".
A comment on the question "What mean JNDI name in JDBC service connection properties and how it can help me to develop Altio apps?" in Altio:
To add further to this, we are looking to implement JNDI lookup of application properties in Altio 5.3.1.
This will mean that migration of an application from Dev, to test and production will not require changes to altiolive.xml configuration file. Each environment can be setup with JNDI settings. Further details will be provided in the 5.3.1 release notes
This approach is valuable when configuration settings are environment specific - e.g. URL's and database connections. – Gary Thompson, on September 07, 2009 15:25

Olexiy,
You have a seperate question How can I configure Tomcat to use JNDIdata source. I hope this answers this question as well.
Gary Thompson replied on June 09, 2009 16:29 to the question "How can I obtain a WAR file for Altio 5.2?" in Altio:
Download of Altio WAR files will be available in the 5.2.7 release, this is scheduled for release on 12 July 2009.
This will provide the ability to drop the WAR file into a web container and have the archive autodeploy and be usable without the need to update the server settings in altioserver.xml.
The only time altioserver.xml will need to be changed is if:
a) you deploy to a cluster
b) you have datapools that are defined to start immediatly without any client connected, and the datapool uses HTTP request.
Thanks
Gary
