Ducky -- someone alerted me to the Applications tab in Facebook: you can disassociate your Gawker account from there.

You can always switch back to Expanded view to get the old layout. But clicking a video thumbnail should take you to the post where the video should just play automatically; clicking a headline should just take you to the post where you can click play to play the video.
