I agree with you. With the hundreds of scathing comments on the I Want Sandy section, you would think that SOMEONE would say SOMETHING about the future. – Gene, on December 08, 2008 23:55

This just happened to me too. Thank goodness you posted this! I followed your "steps" to fix it. – Gene, on December 08, 2008 23:40

You know, it seems to me that the anger in these posts at Rael is misplaced. Rael created a product, as so many companies do, and used his user-base for product development, also as so many companies do, to make the best product he could.
It doesn't seem like a bad thing then that he turned around and sold his highly successful product to another company, again as many other companies do. It's what anyone in here would do if we had a successful product that was worth something in the marketplace.
The anger, if that really what is called for, should be for the company that took a great product and effectively pitched it in the toilet. Twitter deserves a little bit of disdain and ill-will for the sheer stupidity of their decision to leave a whole lot of potential customers hanging out to dry, but Rael is, I suspect, as sorry to see Sandy go as we are. He maybe should have thought a bit more about his bedfellow before jumping into bed with them, but can you really blame him for looking at them first? He is going to work for them.
I say good work on development, good work on a successful sale of a product, and good luck, but do please bend the ear of whoever you can to keep the product going, because my little ADD butt needs kicking.

Adam, try sandysback.blogspot.com The people there are starting an open source project of the type you are looking for. – Gene, on December 01, 2008 12:26

While natural language is the best way to go, I have a shortcut that gets me around the lousy syntax of RTM. Most phones have a "autotext" option that allows you to type, for example, "din" and have it replaced with "dinner". On my phone, I replace "rtmk" with:
"Task:
Due:
Priority:
Tags:
List:
---
Note:
-end-"
So I can start an email by typing "rtmk" then just fill in the spaces. Not so bad. But in a pinch, I can use Dial2Do to phone in my tasks. – Gene, on December 01, 2008 01:55

I, too, am ADD. I spent 2 minutes looking into Sandy before I decided it was perfect. I spent a long weekend ignoring my family and errands to set it up. I used it (wonderfully!) for one business day, and then found out that Sandy had handed in her notice. I am also devastated. I have spent the better part of this week scouring the Net to find a replacement, only to find nothing much (reQall might be good).
But 'dems 'da berries. One piece of good news that may be coming out of this is sandysback.blogspot.com. These guys are trying to get an open source version up and running. Who knows...maybe it'll be even better. – Gene, on November 29, 2008 21:21

reQall may be the best replacement for you. I've been messing around with it and think that it is pretty good now with potential to be far better than Sandy ever was. – Gene, on November 28, 2008 15:17

All of this is correct, but Google lacks a very important feature...todo lists. Those of us that are a little ADD need to have a todo list that is constantly giving us a jingle to remind us to get moving. I used Sandy for almost 24 hours before finding out that she handed in her notice, but it was all I needed to fall in love. I just can't seem to make any of these above suggestions combine a calendar and a todo list and note taking. It all has to be under one roof to be very effective for me, 'cause I'm far too distracted to be able to keep up with more than one.
The search continues... – Gene, on November 27, 2008 02:06-
