Basically my computer is freezing a few minutes into running a Vipre scan. I'm running Vista 32-bit and it's on a fresh installation.

I ran a deep scan in Safe Mode and that ran fine. All it picked up was a tracking cookie so I doubt that malware is the cause of the problem. What can I do to stop it happening?

As a note I'm now scanning without scan rootkits enabled and it doesn't freeze at all.
