A comment on the problem "URL shortening not taking place when posting to Twitter" in Six Apart:
Hi Craig, Twitter's tinyURL integration has been spotty for quite some time now. Thus we are working on a project that will guarantee our post notifications don't get truncated. We'll post more details on our blog (http://everything.typepad.com) in the coming weeks. – Geysa, on April 27, 2009 20:45

This is an issue with Twitter, actually. Please see more information here
http://groups.google.com/group/twitte...
As you can see from Alex's post:
"TinyURL was running quite slow, so we temporarily disabled our
automatic shortening of long URLs.
We're currently working on a project to make the shortening of URLs
more consistent and predictable. We know it's currently kind of a
guessing game as to what will be shortened, and we want to fix that."

Can you attach a screenshot? I'm able to see the blog perfectly. I tried it with IE7, FF3, Safari 4 and Chrome. All look good to me... – Geysa, on April 01, 2009 21:19

Susan,
when I load your blog it shows a number of HTML errors (see http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose...)
I believe some of these errors are causing your site to show the dots...
A comment on the question "How can I Add a Random Background Image to my TypePad Blog" in Six Apart:
Here's what I did:
For the background images:
Go to Control-Panel -> Files and upload the backgrounds you want
For the styling:
Go to Desgin -> Custom CSS and enter the code for the various backgrounds, using the URL of the images you just uploaded
For the javascript
Go to Design->Content
Under Categories, select "Widgets"
Under "Modules" select "Embed your own HTML"
Under "Details", click on "Add this module" button
A pop up will appear where you can put some HTML.
Enter the following (but remember to replace < when you see {, and > where you see })
{script type="text/javascript"}
var bgsArray=["backgroundBlue", "backgroundOrange", "backgroundPink"];
document.body.className="layout-three-column " + bgsArray[Math.floor(Math.random()*bgsArray.length)];
{/script} – Geysa, on April 01, 2009 18:23

I took a look at the CSS and source code for weebirdy.com and saw the following script
[ script type="text/javascript" ]
function randomBG() {
var bgsArray=["backgroundBlue", "backgroundOrange", "backgroundPink"];
document.body.className="layout-three-column " + bgsArray[Math.floor(Math.random()*bgsArray.length)];
}
[/script]
(I changed < with [ otherwise it wouldn't post here)
They have defined the various background colors as follows:
.backgroundPink
{
background-color: transparent;
background-image: url(http://weebirdy.typepad.com/.a/6a00e5...);
background-repeat: repeat;
background-attachment: scroll;
background-position: center top;
}
A comment on the problem "Comments disappearing at random" in Six Apart:
Hi anmblog,
I would love to help out, but I need to understand what's going on first. You mentioned that "it seems like comments get published fine, but subsequently vanish from the Typepad system".
Can you walk me through how you notice that the comments vanish? – Geysa, on March 31, 2009 17:01
A comment on the problem "TypePad Bug: Comments CAPTCHA Test NOT Working!" in Six Apart:
Brian, I checked out the site http://hinessight.blogs.com/church_of... and left 4 comments, each using a different browser (IE, FF, Safari and Chrome).
I was able to see the CAPTCHA code and successfully post the comment. Could you please ask the blog visitor who's experiencing this issue to contact us with more details? – Geysa, on March 27, 2009 21:19

Geysa replied on March 11, 2009 23:43 to the idea "Add "Newest" and "Oldest" browsing options to List Posts page" in Six Apart:
Hi Marissa,
Have you ever tried to use the post search instead of navigating page by page? I find that using search helps me find the post I need much faster than using Newer or Older.
But if you still want a way to get to the oldest page, how about simply allowing the post table to be sorted by date?
thanks for the suggestion!
