I recently bought my first Garmin since my TomTom Rider can no longer be used in a car without the memory popping out. Honestly the Garmin software is not as good, but the traffic alerts work well and Garmin will services all their units for a small fee. Its a true shame TomTom has no clue that no customer service means no customers. BTW I went with Garmin because its private labeled for BMW - another reliable brand that provides customer service.

4 years ago I bought the first RIDER (water resistant motorcycle unit) for $1000 USD plus tax. Never had a problem until this year when I stated to use it with the Car Kit - which requires you leave the memory door open when using - and the memory started poping out. I contacted TomTom for repair - same story - no repair but we offer a discount for a new unit that's not a RIDER. Are you kidding?
But what really gripes me is last Christmas I purchased a 930T for $550 for my girlfriend.
It is really sad to see a company do itself in like this. Reminds me of ZEOS and a few others I have dealt with that committed business suicide with unacceptable practices.
I predict that unless TomTom changes this specific practice it will not be in business much longer. I will be contacting Consumers Union with a compliant about this issue. See you all at the funeral.
