    Hi Ted,

Several months ago, Best BuyTM Co., Inc. began selling musical instruments (keyboards, drums, guitars, recording and DJ equipment) in some of our stores as well as on our website to provide our customers with a more comprehensive product selection. I can understand why you would wonder about adding these to our product mix – how does this fit in with what we’re about? I see it as just another extension of offering products to help our customers enjoy life. With most of our products—televisions, DVDs, music CDs—you are a passive component in the entertainment experience. By picking up a musical instrument, you can be the star. As a former musician (okay, as former high school band geek), I am excited that Best BuyTM has started selling musical instruments. Maybe I’ll pick something up and get back into the old groove.

    Sincerely,

    Hi letmeclearmythroat,

We have investigated different payment plan programs, but as far as I know we have only offered credit cards as financing options. Today we offer two different types of credit cards to assist customers with their purchases.

The Best BuyTM credit card has a 90-day no-interest plan with minimum monthly payments. There are frequent promotional offers with this credit card that vary weekly. For example, we may have a special financing offer for on a specific product category.

We also offer customers the Best BuyTM Reward Zone® MasterCard. This allows customers to earn additional Reward Zone® points on some Best BuyTM purchases as well as purchases from other locations. Reward Zone® points are then generated into certificates, which may be redeemed in our stores toward future purchases.

Basically, the Best BuyTM credit card gives customers the benefit of no-interest financing provided they make minimum payments for a specified time period. The Best BuyTM Reward Zone® Mastercard helps customers earn more Reward Zone® points.

    Sincerely,

    Gina
    Hi gmasully,

I feel that Performance Service Plans (PSPs) are definitely valuable on items purchased at Best BuyTM and have purchased many myself. Products generally come with a manufacturer’s warranty. However, the PSP allows me greater peace of mind. While a standard manufacturers warranty will provide some coverage, it is usually limited to manufacturing defects only and does not cover issues that arise from normal wear and tear. A PSP offers the same benefit that a factory warranty provides, but also protects you against failures due to dust, heat, humidity, normal wear and tear, as well as power surges – since I am originally from Florida where there are more lightening strikes than anywhere in the world, I have benefited from this coverage.

There are also very specific benefits included with the PSP. A few examples of these are:
    • $200 dollar reimbursement for food spoilage on refrigerator/freezer failures.
    • Transmission/Drive Motor coverage on washing machine units, coverage extended 3 or 5 years beyond the factory warranty.
    • Reinstallation of appliances if your original appliance was installed by Best BuyTM and we determine it has to be replaced.
    • Replacement of your product if it requires four qualified repairs while the plan is active.
    • Options to transfer the plan if you sell/give away the product, and renewal options for most products at the end of the original term.
    • One-time battery replacement on many camcorders, digital cameras, notebook computers and cellular phones. (Being the geek I am, I have also taken advantage of this on several occasions for different products)
    • Replacement of remote control should it fail to work during your service period.
    • One-time bulb replacement on all DLP and LCD televisions during the life of the service plan.
    • No deductible.

These are just a few reasons to purchase a PSP. There are too many to list them all here. For more information please contact your local Best BuyTM store or visit Bestbuy.com.

It may be available now at that price, but no one at the store explained that at all. We explained he was just looking for the computer as he already has a monitor and printer, but they said it was $499 and that because no one else locally had it, they could charge that.

We did end up getting it for $399 thanks to newegg.com though. And it only took 3 days to ship to us and everything works great. The computer is a very good buy, just make sure you price shop and don't let big corporations try to push some crappy deal on you.

    Adam,

Thank you for your feedback on your Grandfather’s computer purchase. At Best BuyTM, we pride ourselves on providing the best price, selection and service for our customers. I was sorry to read of your frustrations with the pricing on the eMachines T5254.

I did some investigation after reading your post and discovered that the eMachines T5254 is currently available at our local stores and online for $399.99 plus tax. The $499.97 price is for a package including the computer, printer and monitor. Check out these links for additional details:

    Hi,

I spoke with Insignia at their MP3 support line, 800-699-9218. They said there currently is not a firmware update for the Insignia® Pilot 8GB, Model: NS-8V24.

The product’s drivers are available on the manufacturer’s website: http://www.insignia-products.com/pc-2....
