A comment on the idea "Themes in Tweetie 2.0" in atebits:

does that mean you expect 10% of all users to post here :-)

I think http://twitter.com/search?q=tweetie%2... and http://search.twitter.com/search?q=tw... speak a pretty clear language, though.

Not that I'm bitter or anything, but the chat bubble theme was a big reason for many people to buy Tweetie 1.0 when it came out as "one more twitter app", so it's kinda sad to see this feature taken out, especially since the bubbles are still there in the "direct messages" view...

The new single theme is definitely nice for people who want to cram as much info into their screen real-estate as possible, much like an email program, but remember those of us who think of twitter as something that's actually fun... and the chat bubbles define the desktop app experience as well, so why not have them in the iPhone app? – gkaindl, on October 10, 2009 22:20

Yes, please bring the chat bubbles back.

By the way, loads of other people seem to be missing them as well: http://search.twitter.com/search?q=tw...

Awesome, I'm looking forward to it very much! As a little side-idea, it would be great if the API also let me specify the color of the custom widget, so that I can use different colors for different custom information widgets. Maybe as a hex color string sent by the server-side script.

Btw, Ego is a beautifully crafted and excellent app - It's truly a pity that some people go completely bonkers due to Google Analytics shutting you out, and I sincerely hope that Ego gets the praise it deserves when 1.3 comes out!

"Custom" widget type for programming-savvy people?
How about adding a "custom" widget type with a published web-based API (maybe based on XML-RPC or something similar), which people could use to track their own personal stats, like downloads of specific files on their own website or whatever.

In Ego.app, you'd just set a name for the widget (e.g. "My cool statistic") an URL pointing to the script on your server which implements this web-based API and optionally a password to protect this script.

I think this would be a really awesome feature for some people (me included, of course) and might even lead to people starting to exchange custom scripts on their blogs and spreading the word about Ego.app by doing so ;-)

Multiple links in a tweet: Only one can be opened.
If there are multiple links in a tweet, you can only visit the first one, due to the way links are currently handled in Summizer. Ideally, links would be clickable directly, without having to invoke the menu that shows up when you click a tweet.

    Instapaper/del.icio.us support
It would be nice if you could post a link from someone's tweet to Instapaper (like Tweetie is able to) or del.icio.us for reading it later. I would find this very handy if you use Summizer to follow a certain topic, and people are prone to linking to lengthy articles on their blogs, etc.

    User Profiles
Enable users to have a look at someone's Twitter profile right from within Summizer. Ideally, you should also be able to follow them if you want.

    iPhone UI awfully slow
Nearby on iPhone is pretty cool, but the performance of the map operations (moving, zooming, etc.) is awfully slow, not only network-wise, but also slow in terms of UI responsiveness. The built-in Google Maps application is *much* faster.

It would be great if the performance could be optimized in future releases. Right now, it's extremely slow even over fast WiFi connections.
