Do you address me with your initial question? Clearly, I wasn't serious .. and I already checked the meaning of profound in the dict, but thanks for your mature advice anyway ;)
Thanks for the repetition! I just couldn't understand what you wanna tell, but the CAPS just make it clear finally! – goethe, on June 16, 2009 14:28

Haha .. so you're past 30 years old? ...
The note sheet just referred to the piano track and not the entirety of the instruments and their interaction ... moreover, the music performance might vary that a guy who has so many years of significant musical background could be concerned about ... even if you tap just like Ceegers wants it to you'll FC Clocks .. just as he told .. but not perfect as you hit several notes slightly bad. – goethe, on June 15, 2009 19:46

Why do you comment if you don't know personally what's talked about? As I said Clocks perfectly mirrors the music and it's simple to tap according to the music and the taps ... the note sheets Ceegers referred to were of no value ... – goethe, on June 15, 2009 19:23

Ceegers, honestly, I might not be a significant musician to you nor did I say so at any time .. all I said was that I've learned to play the sax and that I have a good feeling for rhythm and music .. you don't have to believe that .. but I definitely could tap most of the notes perfectly .. and I know why I could do that .. because I listened to the music and recognized which beats are matched by the taps resp. I just tapped how I the music dictated me to .. of course there are parts where it is difficult to keep on track because there are many switches between the tracks which are matched by the taps ... but if the tap track would be the way you want it to be, it would just be pretty lame.
So, as my opinion doesn't seem to be significant to you, I have no problem to leave it at that .. as it's not my issue .. I can tap that song and don't see any problems with it .. (besides the end, which I don't like).
BTW I haven't said that there are shorter notes on the sheet then eighth. But there are quarters and dotted quarters as well and there are transitions (possibly named differently) ... all of these weaken the length of a note .. theoretically it is well defined, but practically it opens up free interpretation to the musicians themselves. How long you actually play a note depends on the way you played it like staccato for instance and whether you want to emphasize it more than previous or following notes. – goethe, on June 15, 2009 14:20

And don't forget that the note sheets are just the guideline, but each person might play it with slight variations esp. when there are dotted notes or transitions (?) ... the tap tracks were created by looking at the tracks of the recorded song not by looking at the sheet music. – goethe, on June 14, 2009 23:36

A comment to the note sheet ... actually I see more than just eighth notes ... esp. after the beginning of the repetition part with the annotated lyrics. – goethe, on June 14, 2009 23:27

Well, you might be right with the "only eighth" statement ... but only in the case of the piano track, not the percussion track! You can't compare the Hard version with the Extreme version as both were made by different people which concentrated on different instruments. The Hard version is mostly based on the piano and where no piano plays, there are just holds. This isn't the case for the Extreme version. At the beginning it also follows partly the piano just as the Hard one. But the Extreme one mostly follows the percussion and the maybe the bass guitar, not the piano .. and when there is the piano playin it may also switch between the different instruments and not just follow the piano ... exactly what makes it more difficult. But there is always some kind of beat, either a stroke of a piano key or the hit of a clamp of the percussion or some beat of the bass guitar. Consider just the left or right lane, where the lane on the other side is a hold ... you'll see that it follows one specific clamp of the percussion. And that it's clearly not evenly spaced! Neither the taps nor the beat of that specific clamp of the percussion. The middle lane as in the third screenshot and everywhere else with that pattern could possibly follow the bass guitar .. but I'm not certain which instrument it is with that profound sound.
PS Probably I don't name those instruments resp. their parts correctly ... Sorry, but I guess I wouldn't even name it correctly in German ;) – goethe, on June 14, 2009 23:18

BTW I meant the third screenshot not the second ... but as I see does this part on Hard just have holds .. – goethe, on June 14, 2009 04:26

As I wrote, I write the rhythm as "da da dam da dam" ;) .. I might not have those many years of musical experience, but I learned to play the sax quite early and my teacher as well, told me that I have a good rhythmic feeling .. ok? :P – goethe, on June 14, 2009 04:21

As I see, we're talking now first of all just about the parts shown on the second of your screenshots.
Why only do you think it should be only eighth? To me it's obvious, it should just be like it is .. I'll try to explain it better. However, I'm writing with my iPod, so I can't switch to TTR to listen to it while writing ... – goethe, on June 14, 2009 03:59

I just played the first about 200 notes again. Would you say that you're talking about this part of the song as well? One of the first holds first left then right where the other two lanes have this note, note, closer double note pattern? That perfectly matches the drums or whatever that is. The rythym goes something like da da dam da dam, where the time between da to dam is definitely shorter as the time between the da's or dam to da .. so it IS uneven! Can't you see that???? It's pretty obvious to me. – goethe, on June 14, 2009 03:41
A comment on the question "General music vs. taps questions" in Tapulous:
Oh no, Ceegers, I absolutely disagree with you. Besieds the weirdness of the last few notes, I never had the impression that the tap patterns aren't related to the rythym of the song. Actually the ONLY reason why I could get 2nd quite soon is that I didn't concentrate on the "bars" at all ... I just listened to the music and tapped the way it dictates me to .. of course I had to concentrate on the general pattern, but I play these "uneven" uneven spaced notes you talk about not by ignoring the music while tapping only when the bars are in the target .. the exact opposite is true! ... Are you just talking about a specific part of the song or the whole one? – goethe, on June 14, 2009 03:28
A comment on the idea "Can we have a LH mode?" in Tapulous:
You definitely had no idea what you talk about when you talk about reprogramming ... actually this should easily be implemented .. why not only taking the information of the tap tracks as they are and assign the information from the left to the right lane when it comes to graphics and vice versa? No need to "reprogram," any tap tracks ...
Regarding the idea itself .. I'm indifferent, but tend to say there's no reason for it. – goethe, on June 11, 2009 11:53

If you talk about Europe, you should consider that we actually had the first and only contest of this kind already ... Isn't Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom part of Europe ;) – goethe, on June 09, 2009 12:16
