No worries, Nick - and thanks for the reply - being able to change the offer in the header on a per page, or per post basis is very exciting - and I didn't realize it could be done with such ease..:-)

I'm as close to being a tech idiot as possible while appearing to know what I'm doing - but - the analogous area in Theses - the custom code portion of the sidebar - can be alternated on a similar granular level using custom fields - which overrides the default offer (for our purposes) on each site. So an optin for a PPC campaign, a picture in the next, or a survey in a third, etc - provides a pretty useful way, from a marketing standpoint - of adding specificity to the blog for monetization purposes.

On ICD- the flexibility in the header should emulate the same - so that's an exciting possibility for sure..:-)

    Thanks again -

    Hi Nick -

Thanks for providing some great WP "tutorials" here - have a few interesting ideas to test after reading a few of the simple mods you've outlined for others.

Is it possible to change the header CTA predicated on the above on a per page or post basis? ( we publish in about 25 markets right now and have been using Thesis for many of them due to the custom code alterations possible on a post specific level - but I really prefer the look and uniqueness of ICD)

Lastly - I know you've not released any follow up themes - are there a set of simple mods like the ones you've outlined here, that could be done to ICD that may be simple for you to do - that could effectively incorporate some of the features you were planning? I'd be happy to pay a second time for the a V2 of ICD if you do..:-)

no worries, Nick - thanks for the update..:-) We're using thesis on a few as well - and I like it too - but because I'm a fan of quirky - and unique - after buying the ice cream dream theme when it came out - I've been loving the style/look and intangible "fun" factor that it injects back into the content creation process..:-) Will keep an eye out for the December release - as I'm not sure my biscuits are ready for showing off. ( I'm not sure that came out right - but hopefully you get the point..;-)

    Thanks -

Thanks for the update, Nick - out of curiosity ( I know you mentioned several different themes were coming) is this more of a publisher friendly or freelance friendly release?

I ask only because I have a partner on a project who is dead set on using "Thesis" for a new site we're working on...and I wanted to wait to see what you had coming next before starting..:-)

Ice Cream a Dream for Amping Up Affiliate Sales ( opt in's & RSS subscriptions too..:-)
    Hi Nick and Haley -

I can't be the only one smart enough to be using this theme, right..:-)

I have to tell you - on the domains we've been using ice cream dream - the conversions have skyrocketed on affiiate sales and click through rates - especially in the header - it's almost too easy - and I want to recommend to my friends to give you guys some business....but it feels like one of those competitive advantages you don't want to spill..:-)

    Anything else in the pipeline?

    Thanks again..:-)

    Hi Hayley -

Here is an example - sorry - and again - I'm a design dummy - I have someone who helps with photoshop stuff that isn't here this week! I'm trying to get rid of the white background - was thinking it may require some sort of transparency - but when I tried it...the whole image became a mess! Just wanted to "blend" the background color and the image ( i.e - no white background if that is possible) - I can play some more in photoshop...just not my skill set!

    Thank you Hayley..:-)

Been no worries getting the headers designed with text (I've been using skitch for some cool text based "calls to action") sizing is all fine too - only issue has been most of the backgrounds of the images I've been playing with since are white - and with the colored backgrounds - leaves a big blocky sort of unseemingly looking header rather than seamless. ( for text - was just taking a screenshot of the color variations to the theme, resizing to 580 x190 and comes out beautifully well!) No worries...I'll figure it out - otherwise I'll keep using what's working now..:-)

    Pretty Images on Colored Backgrounds..:-)
Hi again Nick - Still loving the theme! I've got a quick design question for you - what method is the easiest for overlaying pictures over the header/CTA area for a seamless look? I've been using all text for these areas - but wanted to play with some graphics like you have on yours ( and zenfitness) and can't get the images to lay on the colored backgrounds without a the (white)background framing the pic. (I'm NOT a designer obviously..:-) Is it a transparency thing? Have AI and Photoshop, etc - just not proficient - is there a simple solution to doing it fast? Thanks again for a great theme - looking forward to your next releases..:-)

    Unfortunately....no...:-(

(although I would have never thought of that!)

I'll do a little more searching online to see - I remember when Darren released the tim thumb script, some folks using a few of the themes that implemented it were reporting problems of this sort.

I'll keep looking - now I'm on a mission to get it working - I'm sure it will end up being something very simple!

(although I've installed the theme on 3 separate servers - all not generating the thumb..:-(

    Thanks!

    Hi Nick -

GD library is indeed enabled - yet, for some exceedingly strange reason, the thumbs still don't show.

When I use the thumb field - it simply the post without an image - and instead - leaves the post "title" adjacent to the post as illuminated with this screenshot from an affiliate blog we're playing with this on.

When I look at the image location - for the missing thumb - it gives me this long string:

    http://thetruthaboutfatloss4idiots.in...

(with the image here being the images I'm trying to call)

I'm not sure how the tim thumb script SHOULD reference the image - but something tells me this isn't right..:-)

This is not my forte obviously - but have worked with themes before that had this script installed - and have never had this happen - although I do believe it's probably a simple fix I'm just missing.

It's not a huge deal - and can work around it obviously - ( as I just put a
decent default icon to over-write the "cross-png" for each color - and limit the front page to one post or category - but this isn't ideal obviously) so if there is
something that you see that would be an obvious fix - I appreciate your input!

(and sorry for the repeated issue - I'm just really love the theme and want to get it right - especially considering you took the time to patch it for all!)

    :-)

    Ian

PS ( actually - I can see that the link above is generating a bunch of absolute URL's....not sure why - but surely that is the problem!)

    Hi Nick -

Thanks so much for the patch!

Now - just because it can't be that easy....another question..:-)

For some odd reason - the script isn't generating thumbs for me - have used timthumb before ( as I believe it is the defacto script on a bunch of the premium news themes since Mimbo released it) I'm trying to get this to work on a godaddy hosted box - I can't find the GD library in their knowlege base, which leads me to believe that's the problem. Is there anything else I would look for - i.e - permission settings, etc - or should I simply assume Godaddy won't support it if it's not functioning straight away?

(I called godaddy - guy told me he has "heard of image library before" but that was the extent of help..;-)

Thanks - and no worries - if there is nothing else that can be done - I'll simply get a new host for domains I want to use theme on!

    A Comment, a Compliment and a Question..:-)
Hi again Nick - a quick comment - and then another question ( or two..:-) Firstly - the theme is absolutely great - I love it - and the customizable above the fold CTA has already paid for the template 3 times over in 2 days on one small affiliate site - the advantages of this sort of feature on a blog for marketing purposes, PPC clickthrough, etc - has mouth watering possibilities, so thank you!

If you are able to either advise how a clumsy coder (like myself) could edit the template easily for front page thumnails - that would be great ( or alternatively - if you are able to simply add a script that will generate them automatically - I'd be infinitely appreciative as well - and would make the theme FAR easier to use on multiple sites without a lot of image editing)

And two - I noticed in the zen to fitness site - the author is pulling post date/comments/etc on the front page - whereas by default - my installaton ( or your demo) is not. Am I missing something simple here - or did he simply make an edit to call that himself?

Again - thanks so much for a great theme - I'm not one for getting overly stoked at site aesthetics - but not only does this look great - it has a real, tangible and pragmatic value for Internet marketing publishers types like ourselves.:-)

    Best -

goodkarma replied on August 24, 2008 15:00 to the question "thumbnail auto generation?" in Wordprezzie:

    goodkarma
Thanks Nick - we use the Revolution themes on a bunch of sites ( that generate the thumbnail not through a script - but the template edit) as well as some of the other premium news themes which I believe utilize a script (the mimbo tim thumb?) or CSS (Quommunication News) etc -

Not my strong suit - but have learned a little of each as I've used them all for different projects..:-)

If there is an easy implementation, I'd be greatly appreciative - I didn't read the "guide" first - and simply assumed it was going to have this same functionality before I bought!

It's a fun theme - and looking forward to playing with it on a few sites where I think it will fit well!

On the easy uploader issue - appreciate the clarification - I have some old (2.3) installs that I was trying the theme on upon purchase yesterday, didn't realize it required 2.5! ( and was able to simply reference the images on the server to get around it - so no worries)

    Thanks..:-)

    no easy swap uploader
Nick - I'm not getting an upload button in the admin either - no ability to "swap" image - ( haven't tried a URL) but nothing that allows me to browse and swap as per the installation guide and screenshots. Any ideas? Thanks - Ian

    thumbnail auto generation?
Thumbnails? Didn't realize was goign to require a manual resize..:-( Is there a quick way to add something to template to re-size images auto-magically? ( ie - similar to other premium themes we use) LOVE the theme - it's great and excited to use it....just more of a content creator than image editor and might get a bit cumbersome across multiple sites to resize on every post!
