Hi Roan, thanks for your response - I just figured this one out by looking at the demo account and then searching for "money paid to user" on here. Only after that did I see you responded! (Ah ha, I've now found the email notification of yr response in my junk box!)
My account is defined as a personal account - don't have a biz one set up yet. Need to sort this out as it makes it confusing looking at accounts because it shows my entire bank balance, and not just the balance of those transactions which I have explained, as I had expected it to.

Hmm, this sounds like good news - I've been wondering what to do about expenses that I've rebilled to a project but haven't actually charged on an invoice (because the cost was just included in a lump sum). I just closed the project without charging them, but maybe that is screwing up the accounts somehow?
When you introduce the auto- expenses as CoS if rebilled to project, will that work retroactively on previously entered expenses?
All very exciting. Loving the app so far... I've just spent 1.5 days uploading the last half years accounts into it... I'm kind of missing using it already!!
Gradualist asked a question in FreeAgent Central on October 16, 2008 14:37:
What payment category should I put hosting and CMS licenses which I buy on behalf of clients?I buy hosting and CMS licenses on behalf of my clients. I've been wondering what payment category these should be in? I was putting them in Web Hosting, but now I look at my reports, and having done some reading around on this forum, I'm thinking that these are actually Cost of Sales.
Is that right?
In which case, I would DEFINITELY like to see more Cost of Sales categories - I'd be happy to put the hosting and license fees into one called Web Hosting or Online Services, but if anyone can think of a better category for license fees I'd be very interested!

Gradualist replied on October 16, 2008 10:47 to the question "Assigning multiple invoices to a MANUAL credit." in FreeAgent Central:
It is frustrating that this does not work for manual payments in like the way you can apply one bank transaction payment to multiple invoices as described here
One received payments - multiple invoices
But I guess it is no biggy - I'm just having to enter some transactions for a time from before I had downloaded the bank statements.
Gradualist reported a problem in FreeAgent Central on September 17, 2008 16:51:
New Invoice Item default quantity is not recognisedWhen I go to add a new invoice item, I don't change the quantity (from the default 1.00) but I do change the type to Services, and it comes back with this error
"1 error prohibited this invoice item from being saved
There were problems with the following fields:
* Quantity is not a number"
So I have to retype in 1 myself, and then it accepts the quantity number.
Gradualist replied on September 17, 2008 15:45 to the question "Adding expenses to existing draft invoice" in FreeAgent Central:
I started a draft invoice and added items using the "Add an Invoice Item". Then I added a bank statement with an item to be rebilled to this project.
Now I can't add this item to the invoice I have already created:
Looking at the project I have a line item for "Unbilled expenses" and below that a line item for "All Project Invoices" (a draft). I click on the draft invoice, go to edit, and change "Add Unbilled Expenses" to "one line per expense". This does not add my unbilled expense to the invoice.
Help!-

I agree with Zelph, changing .html extensions to be opened in a browser is not a solution as I want my .html files opened in a text editor, but links opened in my default browser. – Gradualist, on August 14, 2008 10:30-

Gradualist replied on August 04, 2008 17:57 to the discussion "Virgin Broadband do not support Apple Macintosh users..." in Virgin Media:
Gradualist started a conversation in Virgin Media on May 16, 2008 11:39:
Virgin Broadband do not support Apple Macintosh users...I've just had a very frustrating time getting set up with a new ISP, Virgin Broadband because of the nearly complete lack of support for Mac users. This is despite the fact that I told the Sales person that I would be using a Mac - he assured me that I would be able to use the wireless router he was selling me with the service. Getting set up with internet on one Mac is absolutely fine and the technician made sure we had that working before he left. But when it comes to setting up a Wireless network, forget it! I found a CD with a setup wizard for PC only, and no mention of Mac in the instructions. I searched online for some help for a long time, but eventually gave up and called their Premium Broadband support line (25p per minute + 10p connection fee) to ask for help. This is when I was told they simply couldn't help (because I'm using a Mac). However, they also promised to refund me the cost of the call, because I had been mis-sold their Broadband services in the first place (given that I am a Mac user). So I went ahead and tried again to get the router to work, called a friend, turned it off and on again, and hey presto! It works just fine! Just look online for instructions on how to set up the Netgear router (putting in the model number helps).
I don't know if there is much to discuss here - except perhaps others have had similar experiences? But I just wanted to get this online in case anyone else encounters it and needs help. The Virgin services seem quite good - price and bundle wise - its just that their support is severely lacking for non-standard users. Their website help pages are seriously lacking, and the only phone help is expensive. I doubt we will see them on here, since they charge for their support, I don't suppose they'd have time to stop by. But maybe we can help each other through it!
