When I downloaded songbird, what I was looking for was not a media player with a browser/web integration, but a media player that didn't suck as bad as itunes. The browser aspect was pretty low down on my list of priorities.

I do use the browser, but really only because it's there - I probably wouldn't miss it if it wasn't, particulary since the things I use it for (primarily guitar tab sites and lyrics) are now available as addons in their own right. It's also nowhere near good enough to be my only browser.
If there was a large memory benefit from losing the browser I'd probably disable it if the option was there. I'm fairly indifferent though, just thought I throw in my two pence.

Seems The Book of Mozilla is present and identical to the firefox one, but about:robots isn't, and sadly about:songbird doesn't exist... is there anything special we don't know about?

Is anyone looking into an updated version of Album List add-on mentioned in above post? This is what I would say is now my top request for songbird.

What an awesome idea! I particularly like the idea of being able to add non-standard media views as you suggest; this idea could revolutionise the way media view add-ons like MediaFlow work, as they could be elements to be added to custom media views rather than full setups.

If I understand the question correctly, you should be able to change the media view by pressing the button immediately to the left of the search box in the library tab.

There's currently a number of threads open on this topic. As far as I am aware it's planned but not yet implemented - see these bugs (there might be some other relevant bugs, not sure).

At any rate, you're not missing anything, it's just not there yet.
