This isn't a fix, it's a hack and it'll break across upgrades. – Graham Ballantyne, on April 20, 2009 21:35

@Kevin: OK, tell me how to follow a link with a keyboard shortcut. It's → in Twitterrific. – Graham Ballantyne, on April 20, 2009 21:32
A comment on the idea "Mark all as read-button" in atebits:
@George: this isn't what we're asking for. You still have to manually tap through each tweet to mark it as read. We want a shortcut to mark everything as read. This is useful when you have more than one computer -- e.g. I'm using my laptop for a few hours. When I come back to the iMac, I want to mark everything as read because I've already read it on the laptop. Twitterrific does this (CMD-K). – Graham Ballantyne, on April 20, 2009 16:42

I'm not sure how "Tweetie's menu bar is where all it's strength is". You've got keyboard shortcuts for nearly everything in the menu bar. I've managed to use Twitterrific since it came out without a menu bar and suffered no ill effects.
I know you have a strong feeling of the "right" way, but please give those of us who want it an option. Make it a hidden defaults write preference if you must.
