Gray Hogan gave praise in SocialGO on May 26, 2009 19:32:
We now leave, but we leave on good terms.First, I would like to say thank you to the SG team and EvilG. Both did their best to help us make our site better as much as they could.
It is then with a heavy heart that we must depart Socialgo. We have users who are very particular, and what they want, we cannot give with a boxed product.
So we're going back to basics and doing everything on our own. If anyone who has been to our site would like any of the code we used, we'd be happy to supply it. We're moving on and wish SG all the best of luck in the future.

@ Evil-
I appreciate your feedback. Unfortunately this will do nothing for groups who have forums, and would require our making a forum for each group manually. We're only at 45 groups right now, but that will expand.
Our users are accustomed to Phpbb, so the logging in once is not an issue at all- it's the compatibility with the SG site as a whole that bothers us. We don't want to have to run two sites- what's the point? We have had a phpbb forum but ditched it because of the lack of integration with SG. We're not enthusiastic about going back to PHPbb because then groups functionality is lessened GREATLY, as is the "whole site" experience.
Simple things like showing which text is actually new, or having the actual users who originated a post listed should have been in the first draft of these forums. Since this product is not only out of beta, but charging me, I would like to see the functionality of it's freeware competitors. I've not had a site on Ning. I don't WANT a site on ning. I want SG to work, and the number of bugs we have encountered coupled with the advice we try and share here at GetSat show that we are trying to be helpful and patient. Our patience with this issue though is wearing very very thin, as our user base is starting to erode due to lack of a key component in what could be a great site.
EG, you have been immensely helpful both in the past and today- Unfortunately, I need to hear from SG what they expect their paying customers to do.
I'm sure you can relate ;)

We're only at about 200 users right now, and the general consensus is that the forums just plain suck.
We need options. Unfortunately, you all aren't able to make this a priority right now. Is there anything else we can do that will get us the same integration with the site, without your having to redevelop your code?
Phpbb boards are great- and accomplish what we want, but they are not integrated into SG.
We're premium- and we're worried. This is a deal breaker for us. Gamers live and die by forums, as does our site.
Please SOMEONE give us a solution.

Mine isn't working either. I'm a SG site (http://www.thehiveproject.net)-

I would just add that while I know some of these are on the prospective "list" of things to add, nowhere do we see its priority. For us, it is a mucho mucho big time priority, and I am sure others may echo that sentiment. If you haven't instituted any fixes for these issues (which is my guess) then at least tell us when we can expect them. Perhaps a list of things you are working on? (We have a similar one on our site because people want to know what is going on) Considering we DO pay for our site, we are your customers requesting a feature that basically should have been in the release. We're patient, and love hearing when things should/could be done by. We know that the Widget Store is coming eventually (The page now redirects to the main admin), and that you all are working very hard on all of the little things that pop up.
Please help our forums. We are trying very very hard to not come on here every time we have a little thing, but we live and die by the forums, and we "go live" tomorrow.
Thanks guys, I know you'll do your best.
